The high dynamic machine tool presented offers the magnetic levitated guide not only guides the z-axis but also can be used as an actuator in the other degrees of freedom. The aim of the research group at the University of Hanover is to use this actuator for the compensation of deviations between the work piece and tool centre point. An extended use of engineering is necessary for this application as there are almost no construction guide lines available. For this task ADAMS is used as the central software. Furthermore, the strong mechatronic characteristic of the complete system underlines the use of the interface for Matlab Simulink. The structural behaviour of the basic unit is of a special interest. On the one hand the deflections and eigenmodes can affect the control tasks and on the other hand a topology optimization allows them to reduce the weight. Both investigations can be fulfilled by ANSYS.
