W artykule omówiony został potencjał przewozowy promów morskich obsługiwanych w Terminalu Promowym Świnoujście. Przedstawiono charakterystykę obsługiwanych promów i infrastruktury Terminala Promowego Świnoujście, wykorzystywaną do obsługi ładunków i pasażerów. Dokonano analizy potencjału w zakresie obsługi promów morskich, jak i ładunków. Scharakteryzowano wielkość przewozów promowych. Przeanalizowano wykorzystanie powierzchni ładunkowych obsługiwanych promów morskich oraz zdolności przeładunkowe stanowisk promowych.

The aim of the article is to determine the transport potential of fleet employed in the Świnoujście Ferry Terminal. The article presents the characteristic of ferries and infrastructure of the Ferry Terminal Świnoujście and utilization to service cargoes and passengers. The analysis concerns the potential of handling ferries and cargoes. The volume of ferry transport is characterized. The article presents the use of the loading area for serviced ferries and the reloading capacity of ferry stands.

Rola, jaką odgrywają porty morskie w lądowo-morskich łańcuchach transportowych, wynika z lokalizacji portu na granicy dwóch odmiennych środowisk naturalnych. O ich pozycji decydują uwarunkowania zewnętrzne tj.: sytuacja gospodarcza, zmiany zachodzące w strukturze przewozów czy dostępność transportowa, ale również uwarunkowania wewnętrzne. To w jaki sposób porty dostosowują swoją infrastrukturę do zmieniających się uwarunkowań zewnętrznych decyduje o ich pozycji konkurencyjnej względem innych portów, ale także o pozycji konkurencyjnej całych łańcuchów transportowych, których stanowią ogniwo. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie roli portu w kreowaniu lądowo-morskich łańcuchów transportowych. Analiza została oparta na przykładzie Terminalu Promowego Świnoujście.

The role played by ports in the land-sea transport chains results from a port location on the border of two different natural environments. Their position is affected by external determinants, ie: economic conditions, changes in the structure of transport and accessibility to the hinterland transport infrastructure, but also is affected by the internal conditions. This is how the ports adapt their infrastructure to changing enviroment determine their competitive position relative to other ports, but also the competitive position of the entire transport chain. The aim of the article is to present the role played by ports in the creation of land-sea transport chains. The analisys was based on the Świnoujście Ferry Terminal.

In the introduction, the intermodal transport market in Poland is briefly described, with particular emphasis on the restrictions affecting the irregularity in its development. The author focuses on the current state of the intermodal transport in the Odra River estuary ports. Further, the project of the intermodal base in the ferry terminal Świnoujście is presented. The market potential for new sea-land connections is examined. Finally, paper shows the technical and operational assumptions for the intermodal connection Świnoujście- Budapest. The article includes a summary showing the other opportunities and risks in the development of intermodal transport to and from the ports of Western Pomerania.
