The following article is an attempt at a condensed description of the history of the Tarnobrzeskie Zagłębie Siarkowe (the sulphur mining district), covering the history of the combine and the sulphur mines that were part of it. The main objective of the article is to highlight the following three elements: the extremely dynamic development of a new type of sulphur mining and refining in an area with no previous history of mining and chemical traditions, the great effort and dedication of the company staff creating a new branch of the Polish mining and refining industry and the unprecedented significance of this industry for the development not only of Tarnobrzeg with its surroundings, but also the whole of Poland.

Up to date issue of cartographic studies is a complex problem. The content of the BDOT10k database is particularly important from the user's point of view, which should be updated on a current basis. The authors carry out an analysis of the database's validity along with the assessment of changes in spatial topography based on available non-standard topographical studies and an orthophotomap. The research was carried out in the town of Tarnobrzeg, which due to its specificity (a town with high dynamics of development) allows for a clear picture of the essence of the problem.

The long-term exploitation of sulphur deposits in the Tarnobrzeg region along with intense groundwater drainage caused a change of hydrodynamic and hydrogeochemical conditions. After the finishing of mining activities, the area has been reclamed, causing a return to near-natural conditions. Therefore, the geological and hydrogeological conditions are currently close to natural. This area is prospective for extraction of mineralized sulphide waters and their use in balneotherapy.

Przedmiotem opracowania jest analiza efektywności miejskiej oczyszczalni ścieków w Tarnobrzegu. Mechaniczno-biologiczną oczyszczalnię uruchomiono w 1998 r., a w latach 2010-2011 poddano odbudowie i modernizacji wynikającej z zalania obiektu wodami powodziowymi. Ciąg technologiczny oczyszczalni stanowią: kraty, piaskownik poziomy, dwa osadniki radialne, dwie komory osadu czynnego, dwa osadniki wtórne. Z kolei nitkę osadową stanowią: zagęszczacz mechaniczny osadu nadmiernego, zamknięta komora fermentacji, prasa taśmowa oraz instalacja do magazynowania i spalania biogazu uzyskanego w procesach fermentacji osadu ściekowego. Średnia ilość ścieków w analizowanych latach 2012-2014 wynosiła 4760 m3/d, stanowiąc 40% projektowanej przepustowości dla okresu deszczowego. Analiza wyników wykazała, że oczyszczalnia pracuje prawidłowo i zapewnia wysoki stopień usuwania zanieczyszczeń ze ścieków. Średnia efektywność oczyszczania ścieków w odniesieniu do analizowanych wskaźników zanieczyszczeń w pierwszych dwóch latach po modernizacji obiektu wyniosła: BZT5 - 98,6±1,6%, ChZT - 93,1±2,85%, Zog - 97,2±3,2%, Nog, - 81,2±6,7% i Pog - 92,9±5,92%. Jakość ścieków oczyszczonych odpowiadała wymaganiom zdefiniowanym w pozwoleniu wodnoprawnym. Odnotowano marginalne przekroczenie pozwolenia wodno-prawnego w zakresie azotu ogólnego.

The subject of the paper is assessment of performance of the municipal wastewater treatment plant in Tarnobrzeg. The mechanical-biological treatment plant was launched in 1998 and in the years 2010-2011 it underwent a reconstruction and modernization after the facility was flooded. The plant's technological line is composed of a step screen, a horizontal grit separator, two radial-flow tanks, two activated sludge chambers, two secondary settlement tanks. The sewage sludge line includes mechanical excessive sludge thickener, closed fermentation tank, belt press and installation for storage and incineration of biogas obtained in the sewage sludge fermentation processes. In the analyzed years 2012-2014, the average flow of wastewater amounted to 4760 m3/d constituting 40% of the designed capacity during the rainy season. Analysis of the results shows that the plant works correctly and ensures high level of pollution removal from the treated wastewater. The average efficiency of the wastewater treatment plant with regard to the analyzed pollution indicators in the first two years after modernization amounts to: BOD5 - 98,6±1,6%, COD - 93,1±2,85%, TSS - 97,2±3,2%, TN - 81,2±6,7% and TP - 92,9±5,92. The quality of treated wastewater corresponded to the requirements defined in the water permit. Only a minimum exeedance of the water permit limits was noted for total nitrogen.

Problemy transportu zbiorowego są typowe dla wielu miast i regionów. Nakładają się one na problemy demograficzne, poziom bezrobocia, stopień zamożności. Również stan infrastruktury pozostaje w związku przyczynowo – skutkowym z transportem zbiorowy. Wspomniane czynniki zostały przeanalizowane w aspekcie transportu zbiorowego w Tarnobrzegu i w powiecie tarnobrzeskim celem określenia głównych problemów i wytyczenia kierunków poprawy.

Problems with public transport are typical for many cities and regions. They overlap demographic problems, unemployment, level of wealth. Also, the state of infrastructure is connected with collective transport. Said factors were analyzed in terms of collective transport within Tarnobrzeg and its surroundings to identify the main problems and pave the directions of improvement.

Prognozy zmian stosunków wodnych w rejonie likwidowanych kopalń Tarnobrzeskiego Zagłębia Siarkowego, wykonane na podstawie wyników modelu hydrogeologicznego, wskazują na możliwość ujawnienia się negatywnych zmian w środowisku wodno-gruntowym po wyłączeniu istniejących systemów odwadniających. W obrębie kopalni "Jeziorko" i w otoczeniu kopalni "Piaseczno" uregulowanie stosunków wodnych ma podstawowe znaczenie dla dalszego kierunku zagospodarowania terenów pogórniczych. Artykuł dokumentuje wpływ odtworzonego zwierciadła na produktywność gleb, stopień uszkodzenia i główne zagrożenia, których usunięcie wymagać będzie wykonania specjalistycznych melioracji szczegółowych.

The water conditions prognosis within the area of mines put to closure of Tarnobrzeg Sulphur Basin, elaborated on the basis of hydrogeological model results, show the possibility of occurrence the negative changes in ground-water environment, after eliminating the existing drainage systems. Within the surroundings of "Jeziorko" and "Piaseczno" mines, the water conditions engineering is of basie importance, for further direction of post-mining land development. The paper presents the evidence of the influence of reconstructed ground-water level over the soil productiveness, the size of damages and main threats removal of which needs to carry out special detailed land melioration.

The reliability of water supply subsystem was connected with safety, reliability of subsystem operator and the reliability of subsystem environment in a mathematical model. The model allows to calculate probability and relationships between the characteristics tested. Field data tests for water supply subsystem in Tamobrzeg were shown.
