Estimation of Chlorophyll-a, TSM and salinity in mangrove dominated tropical estuarine areas of Hooghly River, North East Coast of Bay of Bengal, India using sentinel-3 data

The study aims to assess variations in spatio-temporal characteristics of water quality parameters from three tropical estuaries, namely Muri-Ganga, Saptamukhi, and Hooghly, in the western portion of the Indian Sundarbans. Reliable retrieval of near-surface concentration of water quality parameters such as Chlorophyll-a, SST & TSM from diverse aquatic ecosystems with broad ranges of tropical requirements has always remained a complex issue. In this study, application of Case 2 Regional Colour Correction (C2RCC) processor has been tested for its accuracy across different bio-optical regimes in both inland and coastal waters. Satellite images for the same period were also collected and analysed using the C2RCC processing sequence to retrieve parameters like the depth of water, surface reflectance, water temperature, inherent optical properties (IOPs), chlorophyll-a, salinity, total suspended matter (TSM), etc., using the SNAP software. In situ sampling from specific locations within these estuaries and water quality analysis were conducted for the period 2017-2019. The OLCI retrieved datasets were compared and corroborated with field survey datasets. It was observed that the highest amount of TSM was recorded at Diamond Harbour during the 2018 pre-monsoon season (301.40 mg/L field-based value and 308.54 mg/L estimated value). Similarly, chlorophyll-a had higher concentrations throughout the monsoon season (3.03 mg m-3, (field survey), and 2.96 mg m-3, (estimated) at Fraserganj and Sagar south points. A very good correlation was observed for all seasons for Chl-a (r = 0.829) and TSM (r = 0.924) between the OLCI data and in situ measurements. Higher correlation and significant ‘r’ values highlight the importance of having both field-based as well as remotely-sensed information in understanding any dynamic system in a sustained manner. Results also confirm that the water quality model using OLCI Chl-a and TSM products outperforms conventional techniques. The study demonstrates the efficacy of using Sentinel 3 OCLI data for shallow marine and estuarine remote sensing applications, especially for monitoring TSM and Chl-a concentrations.

Management concerns for social media usage : moderating role of trust in Saudi communication sector

This study sought to examine the relationship between predictors of social media application usage; these constructs include management concerns usefulness, ease of use, effectiveness of collaboration and communication among communication sector of Saudi Arabia with moderating role of trust on tendency towards usage of social media tools as latest technology advancements. Self-administrated questionnaire was used for data collection from Saudi communication sector. Relationships and proposed framework were examined by using SMART-PLS. Relationship was examined and found significant relation between constructs, but moderating role of trust was not significant. Future research should examine other forms of spontaneous workplace behaviors towards social media usage. This study provides what is perhaps the first empirical test of the joint contribution of usefulness, ease of use, effective collaboration and communication with moderating role of trust on adoption and tendency of social media usage in Saudi context.

Celem artykułu było zbadanie związku między determinantami użycia aplikacji w mediach społecznościowych. Determinanty te obejmują: zarządzanie, użyteczność, łatwość użycia, skuteczność współpracy i komunikacji między sektorem komunikacyjnym Arabii Saudyjskiej z umiarkowaną rolą zaufania do tendencji do korzystania z narzędzi mediów społecznościowych jako najnowszych osiągnięć technologicznych. Do zbierania danych z saudyjskiego sektora komunikacji wykorzystano kwestionariusz badawczy. Relacje i proponowane ramy zostały zbadane przy użyciu SMART-PLS. Zbadano i stwierdzono znaczący związek między determinantami oraz umiarkowaną rola zaufania. Przyszłe badania powinny przeanalizować inne formy spontanicznych zachowań w miejscu pracy w relacji do korzystania z mediów społecznościowych. Badanie to stanowi prawdopodobnie pierwszy empiryczny test wspólnego wkładu w użyteczność, łatwość użycia, efektywnej współpracy i komunikacji z umiarkowaną rolą zaufania i tendencją korzystania z mediów społecznościowych w kontekście saudyjskim.

Idea zrównoważonego rozwoju od początku narodzin tej idei ponad 25 lat temu budziła duże emocje. Najpierw była to nadzieja, że oto ludzkość staje przed szansą rozwiązania swoich odwiecznych problemów. Później – w związku z dość nikłymi rezultatami w zakresie wdrożenia zrównoważonego rozwoju w życie – zaczęły się budzić uczucia frustracji i zawodu. W niniejszym artykule autor podejmuje próbę systematyzacji pojawiających się teoretycznych stanowisk wobec tej idei i zaprezentować konkretne ich przykłady, dokonując jednocześnie wstępnej ewaluacji.

The idea of sustainable development since the beginning of the birth of this idea over 25 years ago aroused high emotions. First, it was the hope that humanity had a chance to resolve its perennial problems. Then – due to the low levels results in the implementation of sustainable development in real life – feelings of frustration and disappointment began to arise. In this article the author makes an attempt to systematize the emerging theoretical positions on this idea and present specific examples, while making an initial evaluation.

TSM is escape pipe in case of collapse of terrain. The TSM is a passive security tool placed underground to connect the work area with secure area (mining gallery mainly). TSM is light and hand able pipe made with aramid (Kevlar), carbon fibre, or other kind of new material. The TSM will be placed as a pipe line network with many in/out entrances/exits to rich and connect problem work areas with another parts in a safe mode. Different levels of instrumentation could be added inside such as micro-led escape way suggested, temperature, humidity, level of oxygen, etc.). The open hardware and software like Arduino will be the heart of control and automation system.

TSM jest przewodem ucieczkowym przeznaczonym do wykorzystania w razie katastrof górniczych, który łączy obszar eksploatacji ze strefą bezpieczną w wyrobiskach głównych. TSM jest rozwiązaniem lekkim, możliwym do ręcznego przenoszenia i montażu. Przewód zbudowany z aramidu (kevlaru), włókna węglowego oraz innych materiałów. TSM jest przeznaczony do tworzenia sieci korytarzy z wieloma wyjściami i wyjściami przeznaczonymi dla szybkiej ewakuacji do stref bezpiecznych. Przewiduje się montaż dodatkowego wyposażenia takiego jak: oświetlenie LED, mierniki temperatur, wilgotności oraz składu atmosfery.
