For the case of solar energy the average yearly flux of heat reaching Earth's surface constitutes the measure of its energetic potential. As it was remarked, it is several thousand times bigger than the actual global demand for energy. Therefore regardless of its indirect relations with other energy sources, solar energy can constitute the complete alternative for the event of fossil fuel depletion. The existing estimates take into consideration the application of solar energy for various alternatives of the development of humanity. If the yearly rate of 2 % rise in the demand for power is assumed along with harnessing of only 1 % of solar energy reaching Earth the result is promising and indicates that we do not need to refer to other supplementary energy sources until the year 2250. However, if the rate of 4 % rise in the demand for energy is anticipated, the year 2050 will constitute the date to which entire demand for energy will have to be supplied from solar energy. The area of Opole University of Technology will accommodate a facility for the display of ISOMAX technology in the form of a detached house. An international project was drawn up and submitted to the EU with the aim whose aim is to perform thermal modernization of a students' hostel at Opole University of Technology. While there are three analogous buildings, the forecasted standard thermal modernization will apply ISOMAX technology. It may constitute a unique field of experience. In the follow-up of the first efforts associated with the establishment of TERRASOL Research Center at Opole University of Technology involving an interdisciplinary research team there is a possibility of gaining specialty in this important and quickly developing area. Until the present readiness to take part in the project was declared by teams headed by Professors Zdzisław Kabza and Stefania Grzeszczyk. The Center has an open character.

W pracy przedstawiono informacje na temat stanu wykorzystania energii słonecznej i geotermalnej w Polsce. Dokonano opisu innowacyjnej technologii budownictwa pasywnego zaproponowanej przez firmę ISOMAX z wykorzystaniem energii słonecznej oraz przypowierzchniowej energii geotermalnej pod budynkiem.
