Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia temat rewitalizacji zewnętrznych przestrzeni wspólnych na istniejących osiedlach mieszkaniowych. Celem badań jest przedstawienie uniwersalnych modeli projektowych poprzez analizę natury i dziedzictwa jako dominujących wartości, uzupełniających zauważone niedobory przyrodnicze i kulturowe. W tym celu posłużono się Celami Zrównoważonego Rozwoju (SDG), UNESCO (UNESCO, 2015) oraz metodą Research Through Design (RTD). Jako obszar badawczy wybrano osiedle mieszkaniowe Zaspa, ze względu na charakterystyczny układ urbanistyczny oraz jego dużą rozpoznawalność kulturowo-społeczną. W wyniku przedmiotowych badań wyłoniono i przeanalizowano elementy Celów Zrównoważonego Rozwoju (SDG). Graficzne modele przestrzenne z projektów podzielono na grupy, dla których określono intensywność udziału natury lub dziedzictwa w procesie integracji społecznej. Kolejnym ważnym krokiem była walidacja w skali międzynarodowej i udział w wystawie pt. Europejskie Dni Dziedzictwa oraz weryfikacja wyników ankiety wśród mieszkańców otwierających drugi etap badań. Artykuł stanowi podsumowanie pierwszego etapu wieloletniego projektu badawczego.

This article introduces the topic of revitalising outdoor common spaces in existing housing developments. The aim of the research is to present universal design models by analysing nature and heritage as dominant values, complementing perceived natural and cultural deficiencies. For this purpose, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), UNESCO (UNESCO, 2015) and the Research Through Design (RTD) method were used. The Zaspa housing estate was chosen as the research area because of its characteristic urban layout and its high cultural and social recognition. As a result of this research, elements of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) were identified and analysed. Graphic spatial models from the projects, were divided into groups for which the intensity of the contribution of nature or heritage to social inclusion was determined. The next important step was the international validation and participation in the European Heritage Days exhibition and the verification of the results of the citizens' survey opening the second phase of the research. This article summarises the first phase of the multi-year research project.

As a tool, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) guide local and regional leaders in developing policy approaches for better social development. SDGs are 17 ambitious objectives towards a greener, healthier, more peaceful and equal planet, promoted by the United Nations to achieve by 2030. Having this performance in mind, countries and regions can measure their level of SDG implementation and rethink how they could promote prosperity, cooperation among regions and progress. This study focuses on SDG-9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure in ten municipalities of the Alto Minho region, Portugal. The main idea is to assess the level of each municipality in the achievement of the indicators related to this SDG. The similarities and differences between the municipalities can underline areas for joint efforts or investments in the development policy. This paper selected a performance analysis as a tool for informing on the amount of effort required to achieve SDG-9 at a local level, i.e., the Alto Minho region in the north of Portugal. If the trend of evolution is maintained, only Viana do Castelo will reach the full range of indicators for SDG-9, and Caminha will have 50 % of the indicators achieved. The remaining municipalities will reach at least half of the indicators, thus achieving a value lower than half of the target value. This approach could be replicated in other SDGs and other regions. This assessment allows the region’s stakeholders to indicate areas of required action to achieve the SDG.
