This paper presents methods of renewal the GOC certificates in Poland and other countries. Relevant provisions of the SOLAS Convention, the Radio Regulation and the STCW Conventions are discussed. Knowledge of candidates for renewal of the GOC certificates were analysed based on responses to questionnaires. The differences in the methods of training and examinations between selected European countries are presented. Noted the possibilities of GMDSS training at a distance recommended by the STCW Convention. The results and conclusions are presented in the summary arising the difference methods of renewal the GMDSS certificates.

Referat prezentuje założenia i cele zintegrowanego systemu informacyjnego i monitorowania ruchu statków (VTMIS), wprowadzonego celem wdrożenia zintegrowanej polityki morskiej Unii Europejskiej oraz opisuje trzy najważniejsze jego elementy składowe: system monitorowania wykorzystujący stacje brzegowe systemu automatycznej identyfikacji statków, bazę danych Unii Europejskiej systemu identyfikacji i śledzenia dalekiego zasięgu oraz platformę informatyczną wymiany informacji. Przedstawiono w nim zasadnicze funkcje realizowane przez wymienione elementy składowe, aktualne problemy eksploatacyjne i plany dalszego rozwoju.

Paper presents principles and goals of the integrated Vessel Traffic Monitoring and Information System (VTMIS), introduced to implement the Integrated Maritime Policy of the European Union and describes its three main components: monitoring system utilizing coastal stations of the Ship borne Automatic Identification System, European Union Long Range Identification and Tracking Data Centre and informatics platform to information exchange.It sets out the essential functions performed by these components, the current operational problems and plans for further development.

The paper presents the new navigational service under commercial agreement between the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) and the Transas, worldleading Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) developer and supplier, which guarantee that every Transas ECDIS will be pre-loaded with Admiralty Vector Chart Service (AVCS) data tailored to the needs of Transas’ customers and optimised for use on Transas' ECDIS. The new Transas Admiralty Data Service (TADS) compiles the ENC data set into the internal format of a Transas ECDIS system, meaning that users will experience significant time savings, whilst also guaranteeing an easy, error free installation and updating of official System ENC (SENC) data on their systems, where the producing nation allows.

W referacie przedstawiono nowy serwis nawigacyjny, będący przedmiotem porozumienia między Admiralicją Brytyjską (UKHO) a firmą Transas, światowym liderem na rynku systemów ECDIS, który gwarantuje, że każdy system ECDIS firmy Transas będzie mógł otrzymywać dane w serwisie AVCS (Admiralty Vector Chart Service (AVCS), dostosowane do potrzeb użytkowników tych systemów. Nowy serwis, nazwany TADS (Transas Admiralty Data Service) umożliwia automatyczną transformację danych map elektronicznych ENC (Electronic Navigational Chart) w wewnętrzny format systemu ECDIS firmy Transas, co oznacza, że użytkownicy systemu zaoszczędzą trochę czasu. Poza tym gwarantuje on łatwą, bezbłędną instalację oraz aktualizację oficjalnych baz danych SENC (System Electronic Navigational Chart ) w tych systemach, o ile lokalne przepisy na to pozwalają.
