Content available remote Efficiency analysis and promising applications of silicon drift detectors

Silicon drift detectors (SDDs) stand as a groundbreaking technology with a diverse range of applications, particularly in the fields of physics and medical imaging. This paper provides an analysis of the performance of SDDs as detectors for X-ray radiation measurement, shedding light on their exceptional capabilities and potential in medical imaging. Compared to conventional detectors, SDDs have several notable advantages. Their high efficiency in capturing X-rays allows them to provide outstanding sensitivity and accuracy in detecting even low-energy X-rays. In addition, SDDs exhibit significantly low electronic-noise levels, contributing to better signal-to-noise ratio and better data quality. Furthermore, their high resolution enables exact spatial localization of radiation sources, which is essential for accurate diagnosis. This research is devoted to the evaluation of efficiency and potential application of SDDs in X-ray spectroscopy, with particular emphasis on their application in medical imaging. We focus on evaluating the performance characteristics of SDDs, such as their linearity, stability and sensitivity in detecting X-rays. The aim is to highlight the suitability of SDDs for a wide range of applications.

The basic goal of the research is to recognize the situation and the level of eco-innovation in Poland, including the MSME sector and to compare the obtained results with the ones from EU countries. The result of the research is indicating the barriers and opportunities to support the development of eco-innovation in the MSME sector in Poland. Moreover, there has been made an assessment of effectiveness of the financing of eco-innovation by micro-, small and medium enterprises, and in particular the assessment of determinants affecting the selection of sources of funding of eco-innovation, including the use of structural funds.

Podstawowym celem badań jest rozpoznanie stanu i poziomu ekoinnowacji w Polsce, w tym w sektorze MMSP, oraz porównanie otrzymanych wyników z krajami Unii Europejskiej. Efektem tych badań jest wskazanie barier i możliwości wsparcia rozwoju ekoinnowacji w sektorze MMSP w Polsce. Ponadto przeprowadzono ocenę efektywności finansowania ekoinnowacji przez mikro, małe i średnie przedsiębiorstwa, a w szczególności ocenę determinant wpływających na wybór źródeł finansowania ekoinnowacji, w tym wykorzystania funduszy strukturalnych.

Looking at the end-to-end processing, typical software-intensive systems are built as a system-of-systems where each sub-system specializes according to both the business and technology perspective. One challenge is the integration of all systems into a single system -- crossing technological and organizational boundaries as well as functional domains. To facilitate the successful integration, we apply the system design process Simulation Driven Development (SDD). The basic idea is the application of realistic simulation models in parallel to existing software engineering procedures to enable testing and validation from day one. In this article we discuss the coupling of sub-systems implemented as virtual simulation models with sub-systems implemented as real sub-systems to enable unit tests against system level. Two approaches are presented: loose coupling and tight coupling.

In this paper, we compare performance of several dimension reduction techniques, namely LSI, NMF, SDD and FastMap. The qualitative comparison is based on rank lists and evaluated on a collection of faces from the Olivetti Research Lab. We compare the quality of these methods from several standpoints: the visual impact, quality of generated "eigenfaces", size of reduced matrices and retrieval performance.
