Ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) is a type of cementitious material that has been specifically engineered to achieve exceptional mechanical properties and durability through optimized particle filling. However, the addition of steel fibers to the UHPC matrix creates a transitional region at the interface. Previous research has indicated that the use of silane coupling agents (SCA) on the surface of steel fibers is a promising approach for improving the bonding properties between the fibers and the matrix. This study aims to explore the impact of varying amounts of untreated steel fibers versus those that have undergone SCA treatment on the durability of UHPC. The findings indicate that treating steel fibers with SCA significantly narrows the pore space between the matrix and steel fibers, as well as enhances the production of hydration products on the steel fiber surface. Furthermore, this treatment facilitates the formation of a compact transition zone between the UHPC matrix and steel fibers. The electrochemical corrosion resistance, chloride ion penetration resistance, frost resistance, and sulfate erosion resistance of UHPC are all enhanced by this method. As a result, the durability of UHPC is significantly improved, making it an extremely promising avenue of research.

Background: Informatization has enabled global logistics and supply chains (LSC) to capitalize on data-driven analytics to improve logistics performance. At the country level, logistics performance is gauged through the logistics performance index (LPI), where globally 61.25% or 98 countries perform below the mean LPI score. Previous studies focused on logistics informatization in high and moderate LPI rank economies. The paper aims to conduct an exploratory case study in a low LPI performing country to assess the informatization practices of logistics entities and develop a logistics informatization continuum to unlock data analytics for other countries. Methods: The study implements qualitative methods to develop strategic recommendations to reduce global logistics imbalance. We employ a two-layer methodology consisting of thematic analysis and a novel strategic choice approach (SCA) to involve stakeholders for recommendations on obstruction. For thematic analysis, 16 semi-structured interviews were conducted from logistics companies, also onboard 10 trade associations and government representatives for the SCA analysis. Results: We observed many obstructions in informatization; low willingness on informatization, fear of information leakage by humans, low-reciprocity for collaboration, the myth of information and communication technologies (ICT) as an expensive tool, self-interest, and opportunistic behavior. Conclusion: Information-centric and integrated LSC enables data-driven technologies for real-time decision making, vigilance, and data analytics to distinguished the success of a country’s logistics performance. Originality: This study explores the informatization conformity in the logistics sector to connect data analytics. We introduced a novel strategic choice approach in the technology domain for problem structuring. The paper further contributes by suggesting a logistics informatization continuum for low LPI countries to straighten digitalization in the logistics sector.

With the continuous development of the Integrated Circuit (IC) manufacturing where international outsourcing is one of the main trends, hardware Trojan (HT) has been considered as a serious problem for hardware security in modern electronic systems. This paper presents a novel HT detection method based on the side-channel analysis with power traces and the machine learning (ML) technique. Side-channel information of the AES encryption core was acquired by the power consumption measurement equipment and then classified with Softmax regression. The ML technique was applied to classify and detect the HT. The experimental results have clarified the efficiency of the proposed method.

W artykule opisano pracę innowacyjnego systemu chłodzenia adiabatycznego zastosowanego w zakładzie przemysłowym produkującym żywność. Efektem pracy SCA były zyski energetyczne, są one jednak jedynie efektem ubocznym. Głównym celem było zapewnienie bezawaryjnej pracy agregatu wody lodowej chłodzonego powietrzem, gdyż w okresach wysokich temperatur powietrza zewnętrznego przechodził on w stan awaryjny i nie zapewniał oczekiwanego chłodzenia.

The article describes the work of the innovative adiabatic cooling system used in the food manufacturing plant. The SCA operation resulted in energy gains. But they are only a side effect, because the main goal was to ensure trouble-free operation of the air-cooled chiller. It was due to periods of high outside air temperatures, when chiller got failure and did not provide expected cooling effect.

The main focus of this paper is to propose a method for prioritizing knowledge and technology factor of firms towards sustainable competitive advantage. The data has been gathered and analyzed from two high tech start-ups in which technology and knowledge play major role in company’s success. The analytical hierarchy model (AHP) is used to determine competitive priorities of the firms. Then knowledge and technology part of sense and respond questionnaire is used to calculate the variability coefficient i.e. the uncertainty caused by technology and knowledge factor. The proposed model is tested in terms of two start-ups. Based on the initial calculation of uncertainties, some improvement plan is proposed and the method is applied again to see if the uncertainty of knowledge and technology decreases. In both cases, the proposed model helped to have a clear and precise improvement plan and led in reduction of uncertainty.

Purpose: This paper aims to present a fresh idea on how to model and examine the level of sustainable competitive advantage (SCA) with and without knowledge and /technology (K/T) effects in a case company’s operation by taking the manufacturing strategy’s development directions and the efficiency of resource allocation among its attributes into consideration. Design/Methodology/approach: In this paper, questionnaires are filled by two different managerial groups, company’s management team (G1) and company’s global directors (G2). The analyses based on G1, G2 and G1-G2 (mixed results) are performed and examined as well as the effect of knowledge and /technology rankings to observe the differences on how they effect on company’s operations strategy and what kind of strategy type that decision makers might follow. Besides, the effects of knowledge/technology rankings on SCA risk levels are examined on different case companies to perceive the similarities and differences with our case company. In this case study, the objectives are achieved based on several methodologies: manufacturing strategy index (MSI) [1] and sense and respond (S&R) methodology [2]. Findings: The achieved results through the model are found to be promising corresponding to the feedback from the respondents. Research limitations/implications: The model is applied only in a big sized B2B global company that produces power electronics products. Therefore, further tests need to be applied to the model in case of multiple companies from different sizes and areas to figure out the best formula in case of validation of strategic direction (MAPE, RSME or MAD). Practical implications: As a result of its wide applicability and its ease in arrangement the model has an enormous potential for strategic decision-making process and strategic analysis. Originality/Value:The model can provide a more dependable possibility of sustainable improvement to the corporate operational excellence and strategy.

In present paper the issues of the realisation of digital circuits of current-mode gates are presented. Especially the power consumption and large complexity of circuits were shown. The attempt of the reduction of both of adverse features, by the realisation of multi-input modules using for the synthesis of current-mode gates is taken. As a result of the research. the modification of modules was done. With new modules, the construction of multi-input current-mode gates, realising the same logical functions as several gates together before is possible. The new multi-input currenl-mode gates, aspecially the dual-input NOR gate for the hardware implementation of the T-type standard logical function is proposed. The algebra of current-mode gates is different than boolean. With logical states "O" and "1" the state "-1" occurs. The state "-1" makes possible to realise the T-type standard function by simple way. For the more reduction of the hardware complexity of the realization of this function, the application of a new current-mode gate is proposed. As effect of an application of new multi-input gates are a reduction of a power consumption and reduction of the hardware complexity of the current-mode digital system. The less complexity and power consumption cause the acceleration of the performance of digital circuits.

W pracy przedstawiono porównanie trzech projektów układów zbudowanych z bramek prądowych i realizujących funkcje bloku S-box w algorytmie kryptograficznym Whirlpool z analogicznymi trzema projektami zbudowanymi z klasycznych, napięciowych bramek CMOS. Power Analysis Attacks).

In this paper, the comparison of three circuits designed with the current-mode gates and destined for realization of the Whirlpool algorithm S-box functions with the similar circuits based on the classical voltage-mode CMOS gates is presented. The modified by authors Quine-McCluskey minimization algorithm was used to realizing the current-mode projects. Moreover, the evolutionary algorithm proposed by authors for digital circuit optimization used for further reduction of the hardware complexity of the two designed current-mode and voltage-mode devices. The comparison of projects was made taking to account the number of gates, interconnections, transistors and delay time. Comparison results proves the ability of using current-mode circuits in cryptographic processors units resistant to Power Analysis Attacks (PAA).
