New datings of deposits from Odra river valley - stratigraphic consequences and interpretation at fluvial succession

This paper presents organic sediments age analysis in Odra river valley in Słubice, western Poland. In this middle reach of Odra valley reach the uppermost fluvial deposits contain several alternate layers of organic sediments. These deposits have been mostly interpreted as the Holocene fluvial (floodplain) sediments, even if visible admixture of organic matter is not observed. However, there is also another hypothesis. Geotechnical studies conducted in several locations in Słubice, have questioned this interpretation. The main argument was the values of preconsolidation ratio in the range of 0.8 to 5.4, which may suggest, that the analysed sediments were covered by an ice sheet. Also, based on the presence of a clay layer devoid of organic matter impurities in the top of organic deposits, the second one presumes an interglacial (possibly Eemian) age of the discussed fluvial/organic sediments (peats and silts). To verify these hypotheses, six samples from six different boreholes drilled in the Odra river valley, in the centre of Słubice were collected. The results of 14C dating and its interpretation allowed to determine the age of the tested material. All analysed samples from Słubice (Odra river valley) were formed within the last 10,000 years - in Preboreal, Atlantic and Subboreal. Such a result contradicts the earlier stratigraphic interpretations.

Artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie wybranych zagadnień związanych z występowaniem powodzi w rejonie Frankfurtu nad Odrą i Słubic. W aspekcie historycznym przedstawiono genezę rozwoju doliny Odry i koryta rzecznego na przestrzeni ostatnich tysiącleci. Ukazano także wezbrania powodziowe od XVIII - XXI w., wpływ fali powodziowej i miejsca uszkodzeń obwałowań.

The aim of this article present is selected issues relating with floods near Frankfurt Oder and Słubice. In the historical aspect present is genesis development in the Odra valley and riverbed over the last millennia. Also presented is floods since XVIII - XXI century, their influence and places of failures.

Stubice, miasto powiatowe na zachodniej granicy Polski z Niemcami, leży na lubuskim przełomie Odry. W lipcu 1997 roku było zagrożone zalaniem co najmniej 3-me-trową warstwą wody. W ramach usuwania szkód powodziowych Lubuski Zarząd Melioracji i Urządzeń Wodnych w Zielonej Górze wykonał l etap prac doraźnie zabezpieczających miasto przed powodzią - usunął uszkodzenia istniejących wałów i w ramach posiadanych środków wykonał doszczelnianie korpusu wałów i podłoża. II etap zabezpieczający docelowo miasto przed powodzią rozpoczął Regionalny Zarząd Gospodarki Wodnej w Szczecinie od opracowania wielowa-riantowej koncepcji zabezpieczenia przeciwpowodziowego Słubic. Dotychczas nie dokonano ostatecznego wyboru docelowego wariantu prac.

Słubice, a poviat city on the border between Poiand and Germany, is located on the Lubuski watershed of Oder. In July 1997 it was threatened by the inundation of at least 3 meters of water. As part of the elimination of the flood effects, the Lubuski Board of Drainage and Water Equipment realised the 151 stage of works temporarily securing the city against flood - removed the damages of the existing embankments and sealed the embankments' bodies and subsoil. The 2st stage finally securing the city against flood has been started by the Regional Board of Water Management in Szczecin with the elaboration of a multi-variant conception of anti-flood protection of Słubice. Until now the final variant of works has not been chosen.

Istniejący most został prawie całkowicie rozebrany. Nowa konstrukcja mostu, długości całkowitej 251,75 m, ma postać ustroju ciągłego o konstrukcji stalowej z żelbetową płytą współpracującą, wzmocnioną łukiem w przęśle rozpiętości 75,0 m. Opisano rozwiązanie projektowe i realizację mostu.

The existed bridge has been almost totally disassembled. The new load carrying continuous steel structure is 275,75 m long and is composed with reinforced concrete deck.The structural project and realization technology is described.

1 stycznia 2002 r. wchodzą w życie dwie nowe ustawy: o opakowaniach i odpadach opakowaniowych (DzU Nr 63 poz. 638) oraz o obowiązkach przedsiębiorców w zakresie gospodarowania niektórymi odpadami oraz o opłacie produktowej i depozytowej (DzU Nr 63 poz. 639). Dodatkowo zostały uchwalone kolejne dwie ustawy: prawo ochrony środowiska oraz ustawa o odpadach. Przepisy w nich zawarte są zgodne z wymogami Unii Europejskiej.
