Pontiseum, a place where pieces of the oldest bridges ever built in Warsaw are exhibited, was open in 2014 at the Road and Bridge Research Institute. This article describes how documents pertaining to proper classification of bridge remains and determining their status and establishment of ownership rights circulate between administrative bodies. Since bridge remains have not been classified as historic monuments, parties of proceedings interpreted them in different ways. Moreover, the article also explains the rules governing inclusion of similar items considered as historic monuments under different categories. The authors emphasize that it is of utmost importance to preserve them for future generations.

W artykule przedstawiono historię mostu Kierbedzia na Wiśle w Warszawie, a także obiekt obecny, zwany mostem Śląsko-Dąbrowskim, który po II wojnie światowej powstał na podporach mostu Kierbedzia. Zaprezentowano akcję poszukiwania fragmentów przęseł w nurcie Wisły, które poddano badaniom laboratoryjnym. Zamieszczono wyniki badań oraz podano wnioski.

This paper presents a rich and tragic history of the Kierbedź bridge over the Vistula river in Warsaw, as well as the current object, called the Śląsko-Dabrowski bridge, which after the World War II was built at the bridge substructures of the Kierbedź bridge. The paper describes also an action of seeking remnants of steel spans in the mainstream of the Vistula river, which was subjected to the laboratory tests. The paper presents the results of these tests and gives the appropriate conclusions.
