In EU countries revitalization of close-to-station areas got plays important role in the rationalization of metropolitan spatial structure. Observation of the development condition of similar areas in Polish cities prove that this potential is not appropriately used and corresponding investment projects are questionable in regard of planning workshop. This presentation is aimed to discuss methodological questions related to the analysis close-to-station-areas revitalization projects. It is assumed that conclusions from this analisys will be usefull in planing activities for metropolitan area of Krakow.

The subject of the author.s consideration are chosen potential activity centres in Krakow suburbs, particularly regarding the area of the surroundings of Krakow Balice International Airport. This topic was chosen due to strategic significance of this area in the development of Krakow Metropolitan Area. This zone was taken into consideration in the worked out Study of Consideration and Directions of Spatial Development Plans as a potential area of economic activation with a possibility of location of investments influencing economic development of the city.
