The paper includes the general characteristics of the initial costs of unification of the regulations and their implementation into the field of environmental protection in accordance with the EU requirements. It also describes indirect and direct costs of the integration with regard to both mediumistic and sectorial approaches. As the subject of amount of costs that Poland has to bear in order to get closer to the European standards is still being described and available publications and documents include many differences in the amount of costs calculated , different variants of the expected financial liabilities are presented. The scenarios, here introduced, of the costs were worked out by international financial organizations and Polish experts.
