The article describes the former power plant complex at the State Powder and Crushing Materials Factory in Zagożdżon (now Pionki), dating back to the mid-1920s. It begins with an introduction outlining the company’s history, followed by a presentation of the history of the power plant and accompanying facilities, with a focus on the evolution of technical equipment and related architectural layers. Subsequently, an analysis of the architectural form of the complex is conducted, aiming to determine the historical value of the objects. Finally, the article describes the complex’s current state of preservation, its evaluation, and conservation recommendations.

W obecnym okresie wiele polskich miasteczek w mniejszym lub większym stopniu wymaga rewitalizacji. Elementem, który w wielu przypadkach może stać się dźwignią dla poprawy wizerunku gminy jest zachowany w niej zabytek, historyczny układ urbanistyczny lub znacząca atrakcja turystyczna. W Pionkach wartością, dzięki której miasto może się rozwinąć, są uwarunkowania krajobrazowe. Zamiarem autorki było sprawdzenie jak w takiej sytuacji działają instrumenty prawne, które mają wpływ na przestrzeń i krajobraz miasta. Analizę powyższego problemu przeprowadzono w oparciu o materiały źródłowe (m.in.: Lokalny plan rewitalizacji miasta Pionki, Miejscowy plan zagospodarowania przestrzennego, Strategie rozwoju gminy i Program ochrony Środowiska itp.), a także obserwacje bezpośrednie.

The aim of this presentation is to discuss if the documents containing development plans promote and protect Pionki town’s landscape and culture values. Pionki is situated on the edge of dense forest named Puszcza Kozienicka. The area of Puszcza Kozienicka has become the Kozienicki Landscape Park in 1983. It is difficult to overestimate the values and advantages those forests and also the beauty of those landscapes. Pionki has developed since twenties of XX century together with the military industry – The State Factory of Gunpowder. Firstly it was only the settlement near the factory, but its growth was very fast and in 1954 Pionki became the town. In the second half of XX century some housing estates arose in Pionki. Those new buildings disturbed spatial development of town and were in a big contrast to the surroundings. Additionally their architecture is not corresponding with traditional architecture in this region. However there are some monuments of architecture and some interesting complexes of housing estates and post‐industrial buildings in Pionki, which are protected by the law. In nineties of XX century the chemical industry downfall stopped the growth of Pionki. The living conditions of life got worse, unemployment increased significantly and prosperity of town was over. The municipal authorities have passed some development plans and programs in which they prepared many project which aim to improve the situation of the town using its culture and natural resources.
