In the article, FACTS-type power electronics devices used to improve flexibility of electric power transmission systems are presented. Selected models of systems operating in static shunt compensation mode are presented. This work is the first stage of research, focused on power electronics subcircuits, so destined for analysis of power electronics converters PSIM software was choosen.

Paper presents example of PSIM software application for modeling of multipulse power converters. PSIM is simulation software designed for power electronics, motor control and dynamic system simulation and analysis. With its user-friendly interface, its simulation speed, its capability of simulating any type of power converters and control circuits, PSIM is ideal for system-level simulation, control loop design, and motor drive system studies. The 12D and 18D power converters supplied by transformers have been modeled by using ready-made element library as well as by modifying it to be adapted for simulation of particular systems.
