Gruzja, kraj pomiędzy Wielkim a Małym Kaukazem, była celem kolejnej wyprawy Polskiego Stowarzyszenia Górnictwa Solnego. Mimo że w Gruzji nie istnieje górnictwo solne jako odrębna gałąź przemysłu, to ze względu na położenie geograficzne kraj ten wydaje się być niezwykle ciekawy od strony geologicznej i krajoznawczej. Nie zabrakło jednak akcentów solnych, choć w skali mikro. W trakcie wyprawy jej uczestnicy mieli możliwość poznania niezwykle ciekawych historycznie miejsc, a także obiektów przyrody ożywionej i nieożywionej. Poznanie współczesnej Gruzji było cennym doświadczeniem i porównaniem do wielu państw wcześniej odwiedzanych w trakcie wypraw Stowarzyszenia.

Georgia, the country between the Great and the Little Caucasus, was the goal of the next trip of the Polish Mining Association. Although there is no salt mining in Georgia as a separate branch of industry, due to its geographic location, the country seems to be extremely interesting from the geological and sightseeing side. However, there were also salt accents, although on a micro scale. During the expedition, its participants had the opportunity to learn about historically interesting places, as well as lively and inanimate nature objects. Getting to know contemporary Georgia was a valuable experience and a comparison to many countries previously visited during the expeditions of the Association.

Republika Dominikańska, położona między Morzem Karaibskim a Atlantykiem, słynie z kilku surowców – błękitnego larimaru (prowincja Barahona, w Los Chupaderos) i bursztynu (w rejonie El Valle) o niebieskawym zabarwieniu. Do niedawna była również liczącym się w tej części świata producentem soli kamiennej (okolice Las Salinas). Zapoznanie się z budową geologiczną i warunkami eksploatacji tych złóż było celem ekspedycji naukowej Polskiego Stowarzyszenia Górnictwa Solnego, która odbyła się w dniach 26.11-06.12 2013. W trakcie wyjazdu członkowie wyprawy mieli również możliwość poznania przyrody ożywionej (parki narodowe w okolicach Samany i Saony), nieożywionej (jaskinie), architektury i historii Republiki Dominikańskiej. Niezwykle cenne okazały się nawiązane kontakty z najwyższymi przedstawicielami ministerstwa gospodarki, energetyki i górnictwa.

The Dominican Republic, situated between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic, is well known for several raw materials: blue larimar (Los Chupaderos, Barahona Province) and bluish amber (El Valle area). Until recently, the country was also an important regional salt rock producer (Las Salinas areas). Exploration of the geological structures and learning the local mining conditions of those mineral deposits was the goal of the field trip organized by the Polish Salt Mining Association which took place from 26 November to 6 December 2013. During the trip, the participants also had an opportunity to observe nature (National Parks in the areas of Samana and Saona), geological formations (caves), and architecture, as well as learn the history of the Dominican Republic. Our contacts with high ranking representatives of the Ministries of Economy, Power Engineering, and Mining turned out to be extremely valuable for the attainment of our objectives.

The rock salt production in Romania has a long tradition since Roman Empire times. Today the salt is produced in underground mines and as salt in brine. The total production is around 2.6 mln Mg per year. Contemporary salt mining combines the rock salt exploitation with tradition by creating touristic routes, museums and sanatories in old mining openings. Three of several mines producing rock salt and brine are presented: Salina Praid, Salina Targu Ocna i Salina Cacica. The mines were visited by Polish Salt Mining Association (PSGS) during geological and mining seminar which took place in Romania from 10th to 14th July 2009.
