General rules of ultimate limit states design according to PN-EN code system are given. The following ultimate limit states of composite steel-concrete bridges are described: stress, deflection, cracking, web breathing. The design rules are explained and discussed.

General rules of computation of bearing capacity of steel-concrete composite beams according to PN-EN are described. Method of static analysis of such structures and method of computation of their bearing capacity are presented. Requirements concerning computations of action effects on the basis of global elastic analysis are given. Principles of computation of cross-sectional bearing capacity in flexure (in elastic and plastic range) as well as bearing capacity in vertical shear and fatigue bearing capacity are discussed.
