The subject matter of the paper deals with the construction of a test setup for measurement of corona discharges emitted on the surface of high-voltage insulators under various weather conditions. In particular, the test setup enables for: to change temperature in the range from -20°C to 30°C, to simulate snow and hoarfrost, to change the moisture content and, additionally, to investigate the impact of impurities on the surface of the insulator.

A joint UHF/AE method for PD detection and identification in HV equipment was described in the paper. Authors presented an defect identification method on the basis of measured AE and UHF signal analysis. The result of investigation done on test transformer with paper-oil insulation was presented as an example of use of the elaborated method.
