The paper presents the results of examinations of the structure and properties of the x-A12O3+A14C3+Ti3A1 composite layer produced on the Ti6A12Mo2Cr titanium alloy by the PAMOCVD method with the participation of trimethylaluminum vapors. Compared to the material in the starting state, the layer has a high surface hardness of about 38GPa (under the load of 300mN), and good beat and frictional wear resistance. In order to find the correlation between the structure of the composite layer and their properties, the following examinations have been executed: phase analysis by XRD, analysis of microstructure by optical and scanning electron microscopes as well as x-ray microanalyser, measurements of micro-hardness, and beat and frictional wear resistance.
