Use of Quality and Organic Pollution Indices in The Physico-Chemical Quality Assessment of Kébir Wadi East Surface Waters (Region of El Taref, Extreme North East Algeria)

Surface water is subject to strong anthropogenic pressures caused by the development and the extension of the agricultural activities and also by the industrial and domestic activities. Pollution is a major environmental problem due to discharges into rivers and the excessive use of agricultural fertilizers add to that the discharges from urban and industrial sources. The aim of this study is to assess the quality and the state of the organic pollution of surface water in the Kébir wadi east, based on the Water Quality Index (WQI) and the Organic Pollution Index (OPI) during six sampling campaigns carried out between April and September of the year 2011. Seven stations were studied along the Kébir wadi east downstream from the Mexa Dam. The results are visualized by the use of GIS through making thematic maps. They revealed that half of the stations show excellent to good water quality and moderated organic pollution except the stations S3, S6 and S4, that have poor water quality and high pollution at S3 and S6 respectively, and non-potable water with very high organic pollution at S4. The anthropogenic environmental deterioration recorded in the wadi is the result of the use of nitrogen and phosphate agricultural fertilizers and especially, the discharge of untreated domestic and industrial wastewater from neighbouring agglomerations. The seasonal variation remains discrete and reflects a slight tendency to the deterioration of the waters of El Tarf region during the low waters of the summer period.

DC Testing of OPI-type 400 kV Bushings

High voltage (HV) power transformers are equipped with OPI-type bushings (oil-paper insulation). Diagnostic insulation aging tests are based upon tanδ measurements. Engineering practice shows that tanδ does not provide reliable information on bushing technical condition. This statement is substantiated by bushing failures, including fres. The inner layers of paper exhibit local charrings caused by partial discharges; these are not indicated by tanδ measurements. The following issues are presented in the paper: bushing design, equivalent scheme of insulation core, oﬀ-line DC test procedures and the results of tests of two bushings.

Transformatory energetyczne wysokiego napięcia WN, mają zabudowane izolatory przepustowe typu OPI (olejowopapierowa izolacja). Badania diagnostyczne starzenia się izolacji bazują na pomiarze tgδ. Doświadczenia wskazują, że tgδ nie daje wiarygodnej informacji o stanie technicznym izolatora. Potwierdzają to awarie izolatorów, w tym także pożary. W wewnętrznych warstwach papieru występują miejscowe zwęglenia papieru spowodowane wyładowaniami niezupełnymi, a pomiary tgδ tego nie wykazują. W artykule przedstawiono: budowę izolatora, schemat zastępczy rdzenia izolacyjnego, metodykę badań oﬀ-line napięciem stałym i wyniki badań dwóch izolatorów.

We discuss some methods of experimental identification of disturbance forces effecting permanent magnet linear motors. The nature of these forces is presented shortly. We concentrate on "observer-based parameter identifiers" (OPI) method, which originates from general adaptive control theory and fuzzy approximation. Numerical examples are provided.

Omówiono metody eksperymentalnej identyfikacji sił zakłócających pracę liniowych silników z magnesami trwałymi. Przedstawiono krótko ich źródła i specyfikę tych zakłóceń. Zaprezentowano metodę wykorzystania "obserwatorowych identyfikatorów parametrów", wywodzących się z teorii sterowania adaptacyjnego i wykorzystano aproksymację danych przez modele rozmyte. Właściwości przedstawionych metod zilustrowano przykładami numerycznymi.
