Construction of the Nord Stream off shore pipeline trough the Baltic Sea started in April 2010. The pipeline system is made up of two parallel lines, each 1 224 km in length with a combined capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas a year. The installation of the first stream will be finished in 2011 and the second one year later. Most of the pipeline is laid by Castoro Sei, an anchored pipelay vessel, in the Gulf of Finland a dynamically positioned lay barge Solitaire will be used to avoid anchoring in areas known for historic mine lines. In the shallow German waters works barge Castoro Dieci.
