Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolia dzięki dużej gęstości zaludnienia oraz rozległej sieci kolejowej sprzyja rozwojowi transportu kolejowego. W artykule scharakteryzowano transport kolejowy na terenie Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowskiej Metropolii. Zwrócono uwagę na pasażerską infrastrukturę kolejową, analizując korzyści wynikające z położenia oraz dostępności pieszej i potencjału pasażerskiego stacji i przystanków kolejowych. Wskazano połączenia kolejowe dofinansowywane z budżetu GZM. Dokonano też analizy wykorzystania potencjału pasażerskiego istniejących stacji i przystanków kolejowych na terenie GZM. Jak wynika z przeanalizowanych danych, dostęp do połączeń kolejowych jest mocno zróżnicowany. Największy występuje w dużych miastach, w których jednocześnie nie brakuje również takich lokalizacji stacji czy przystanków, gdzie potencjał pasażerski jest niewielki.

The metropolitan area of Upper Silesia and Dąbrowa Bassin (GZM) thanks to its high population density and extensive rail network, offers favourable conditions for the development of rail transport. The article presents the characteristics of railway transport in the Upper Silesia and Dąbrowa Bassin Metropolis. Attention was paid to the passenger railway infrastructure, analysing the benefits arising from the location of railway stations and stops, as well as pedestrian accessibility and passenger potential of railway stations and stops. Railway connections subsidised from the GZM budget were identified. An analysis was also carried out of the use of the passenger potential of existing railway stations and stops in the GZM. According to the data analysed, access to rail connections is highly diversified. It is highest in the largest cities, but at the same time there is a wide range of stations and stops of low passenger potential.

Purpose: The purpose of the article is analysis the current procedure for granting support for the implementation of projects under the Programme and analyses and identifies the factors that make it hard to meet the requirements to benefit from the Programme. Based on the considerations, an attempt was made to develop a procedure for managing the Programme. Design/methodology/approach: The objectives will be achievement by web/desk research, analyses documentations of GZM, and interviews with GZM employees. Findings: Based on the diagnosis and analysis of the current procedure of managing the MFS Programme, interviews, observations and analysis of reports on project execution, factors impacting the change in the value and scope of projects were identified. The identified factors which had a negative effect on the execution of the MFS Programme resulted in most cases from specific deadlines in the adopted Programme management procedure. Originality/value: With a view to reducing the factors influencing the changes in the Programme, the concept of Programme management procedure was suggested, which included eight steps.

Introduction/background: Knowledge management is becoming of great importance in contemporary business. Diversified tools and methods to analyse business and knowledge processes are being implemented in organisations. In the article, the author presents his preliminary research in the area of knowledge management in the Metropolitan Association of Upper Silesia and Dąbrowa Basin. He focuses on the necessary study to identify knowledge deficits, which allows for the development of a research tool supporting the analysis of knowledge processes in the Metropolitan Association of Upper Silesia and Dąbrowa Basin. Aim of the paper: The main aim was to elaborate upon a research tool for analysing knowledge management, i.e. a research questionnaire that enables one to analyse knowledge management deficits and necessary changes in knowledge management activities in the Metropolitan Association of Upper Silesia and Dąbrowa Basin. Materials and methods: The research involves the analysis of source materials, direct interviews with managers and a comparative analysis of business and knowledge processes in manufacturing companies and in the Metropolitan Association. Results and conclusions: The study proves the need to apply a research tool for analysing knowledge processes and knowledge deficits. Questionnaire surveys comprehensively covering all organisational entities of the Metropolitan Association are to be utilised to take appropriate measures to improve knowledge management, consequently resulting in higher operational efficiency of the Metropolitan Association.
