Obowiązująca Ustawa z dnia 19 lipca 2019 r. o zapewnianiu dostępności osobom ze szczególnymi potrzebami zawiera formułuje wymagania dotyczące wszystkich budynków, bez różnicowania ich pod względem wartości zabytkowych. Celem tekstu jest zwrócenie uwagi na problem niespójności między wymaganiami zawartymi w Ustawie, a współczesnymi zasadami ochrony zabytków. Przyjęty w tekście ogólny podział budynków zabytkowych pod względem ich podatności na usuwanie barier skonfrontowano z przykładem Zamku Wysokiego w Malborku, stanowiącego część kompleksu zamkowego (Muzeum Zamkowego w Malborku), wpisanego na listę dziedzictwa światowego UNESCO.

The current Polish Law of July 19, 2019 on Ensuring Accessibility for Persons with Special Needs formulates requirements for all buildings, without differentiating them in terms of historic values. The purpose of the text is to draw attention to the problem of inconsistency between the requirements of the Law and modern principles of historic preservation. The general division of historic buildings adopted in the text in terms of their susceptibility to barrier removal is confronted with the example of the High Castle in Malbork, which is part of the castle complex (Malbork Castle Museum), listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Tekst jest podsumowaniem badań architektonicznych Wieży Kleszej, znajdującej się na Zamku Wysokim w Malborku. Podzielony został na dwie uzupełniające się części. Pierwsza zawiera prezentację zabytku, stan badań oraz analizę przekształceń budowlanych. W części drugiej przedstawiono rozwarstwienie chronologiczne zespołu oraz podjęto próbę hipotetycznej rekonstrukcji wybranych faz jej funkcjonowania. Dotychczas uważano, że Wieża powstała w 2. ćwierci XIV w., kiedy to rozbudowano kościół zamkowy. Najnowsze badania autorów pozwalają domniemywać, że już w XIII w. funkcjonowała w tym miejscu duża wieża zabudowana arkadowo ponad fosą, zaś podczas prac restauracyjnych w XIX w. C. Steinbrecht rozebrał jej oryginalne fragmenty i postawił nową w innym miejscu.

This paper provides a summary of the architectural research of the Klesza Tower located in the High Castle in Malbork. It was divided into two complementary parts. The former contains presentation of the monument, state of research and analysis of the construction’s transformations. The latter one is dedicated to chronological stratifi cation of the buildings and the assumption made to hypothetically reconstruct selected phases of its functioning. The Tower was believed to have been built in the second part of the 14th century, when the castle church was expanded. The latest research done by the authors makes it possible to assume that in the 13th century here operated a massive arcade tower, built over the moat. During the restoration works in the 19th century, Steinbrecht dismantled its original fragments and place a new one somewhere else.

Using the TL single-aliquot regenerative-dose protocol for the verification of the chronology of the Teutonic Order Castle in Malbork

The Teutonic Order Castle in Malbork is one of the precious medieval monuments in Europe. Because of the lack of natural rock resources in Pomerania, its walls are built almost exclusively of bricks. The huge volume and rich historical knowledge about the Malbork Castle makes it a marvellous object for TL dating. The parts of well known age can serve for the verification and improvement of dating method. Subsequently, gained in such way knowledge and experience can be applied for discovering the history of the rest of the castle. Here, the preliminary results of investigations which are still in progress, are presented for 5 brick samples. The applied TL dating procedure is described in detail. The very good accuracy of equivalent dose is achieved by the TL single-aliquot regenerative-dose protocol. The effect of wall inhomogeneity connected with the difference between the activity of the brick and mortar is discussed.
