Every single company seeks to ensure good quality products in parallel to the the most effective production processes in its manufacturing plant. To achieve those goals, the organization of the workplace is very important. It shall be maximally adapted to the production of a given product, thereby increasing employee productivity which provides an added value through saved time. Thanks to the study of work processes time, it is possible to determine the workload of individual activities and its continuity. It could be realized by using the basic methods of working time analysis, e.g., time study, activity study, comparisons and estimations, and methods of time measurement (MTM). The objective of the work was to analyse the assembly work time of selected subassemblies of the half-asymmetric railway pantograph and the proposal to reorganize the workplace and production technology. Every activity during subassemblies production steps were recorded on video. Then, all elementary movements were described through Methods Time Measurement (MTM) and the reorganization of the workplace was proposed. Knowing the course of the process steps of each subassembly and by analysing all obtained results, the organization of the workplace could be modified to minimize the process time as much as possible.

Każda firma produkcyjna dąży do zapewnienia produktów najlepszej jakości równolegle z najbardziej efektywnymi procesami produkcyjnymi. Aby osiągnąć te cele, firma powinna zwrócić szczególną uwagę na organizację miejsca pracy. Miejsce to powinno być maksymalnie dostosowane do procesu produkcji danego produktu, zwiększając tym samym produktywność pracowników. Zaoszczędzony czas zapewnia wartość dodaną dla firmy. Dzięki badaniu czasu pracy możliwe jest określenie nakładu pracy poszczególnych działań i ich ciągłości. Można to zrealizować przy użyciu podstawowych metod analizy czasu pracy takich jak: badanie czasu, badanie aktywności, porównanie i estymacja, a także metody pomiaru czasu (MTM). Celem zrealizowanych badań była analiza czasu pracy wybranych podzespołów półsymetrycznego pantografu kolejowego oraz propozycja reorganizacji miejsca pracy i technologii produkcji. Każda czynność procesu produkcji podzespołów została zarejestrowana na filmie. Opisano wszystkie ruchy elementarne za pomocą metody pomiaru czasu (MTM) i zaproponowano reorganizację miejsca pracy. Znając przebieg etapów procesu dla poszczególnych podzespołów, a także analizując wszystkie uzyskane wyniki, organizacja miejsca pracy może zostać zmodyfikowana w taki sposób, aby maksymalnie skrócić czas procesu, co może przynieść ograniczenie strat, czyli zysk dla firmy.

Content available NATO revolution in the Polish military cartography

The article presents a review of contemporary Polish military topographic maps, with special focus on those in the scale of 1:50,000. They are basic maps used in all armies of NATO countries at tactical stages. After the political breakthrough of 1989 Polish political elites saw the future of our country in the structures of Western Europe, but the Warsaw Pact still existed, and Soviet Army units were stationed in Poland and in the German Democratic Republic. All the Warsaw Pact countries used maps in the “1942” coordinate system and followed standardized rules of map elaboration. The article presents transformation of those maps into NATO standards, the first stage of which was elaboration of the, so-called, maps adapted to NATO standards. At the end of 1990s there started elaboration of a new topographic map of Poland in the scale of 1:50,000. The project involved preparation of a level 2 map, in NATO nomenclature known as VMap Level 2, and simultaneously using the same base for to generate 580 sheets of a paper map in 1:50,000. Map elaboration finished in 2006 and in the following years the project was enhanced with publication of new maps based on high-resolution image data. Since 2003 Polish cartographers have been participating in Multinational Geospatial Co-production Program (MGCP). Within the program high-resolution vector data is being prepared for selected areas of interest. They are mainly areas of current or potential military conflict, terrorist threat, ethnic or religious conflict, natural disaster, etc. MGCP data is not a ready product meant for direct usage, and without proper preparation it is simply unreadable. Therefore, special computer applications were developed to facilitate fast preparation of topographic maps in 1:50,000: MGCP Derived Graphic (MDG) and lately MGCP Topographic Map (MTM). Such maps differ from Polish topographic maps both in contents (to a lesser extent) and in graphic form (to a larger extent). They contain less objects, but include aerial information.

The article focuses on the results of the study on the labour-consumption in the process of assembly concerning air conditioning unit for buses with the use of Methods Time Measurement. The research was conducted in Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. company and involved work in both real world and virtual reality. Firstly, the very sense and the purpose of work measurement is discussed. Then, the authors present a stand for virtual designing of processes and objects with the application of CATIA software. The final part of the article shows the results of the aforementioned studies and conclusions drawn on their basis.

This paper is about a new methodical approach of the joint and simultaneous application of Value Stream Mapping and Methods-Time Measurement (MTM). The focus of Value Stream Mapping is the alignment and combination of individual processes to form a continuous, efficient value stream through the organisation (macro consideration). MTM provide an exact determination of times and focuses on executions of individual tasks and working places (micro consideration). A hybrid optimisation of added value originates from the reasonable and useful combination of Value Stream Mapping and Methods-Time Measurement for increasing productivity, reducing lead time and exact determination of times.
