Prioritizing software capabilities and focal points of MS Access and Excel in perspective of data management

Microsoft Corporation products have overwhelmed almost all organiza-tions around the world even beside other operating systems like UNIX, Ubuntu and others. MS Office software products in particular, have being used widely in big portion of our work and business. In specific, MS Access and Excel are very famous and so usable software in between other Microsoft office products. Many similarities are shared between Access and Excel, meanwhile, many key differences are worth to point them out, too. Mainly, this research spotlights on primarily motivated topic of how they can manage data as they have been designed for. The mission of this research is to show how to employee MS Access and Excel in the right way in business work after indicating strength and weaknesses of both of them. Thus, we need to fulfill the right and suitable enough choice between Access and Excel that meets our business work requirements. A detailed list of significant features and key points are discussed and compered of both software leads to conducted proper software use.

Manufacturing features are widely accepted as a means for the CAD, CAPP and CAM systems and their integration. Despite high number of works in this area, the investigations on the methods on manufacturing features saving are still limited and many results are not suitable for manufacturing systems design purposes. The paper presents possibility of using the MS Access software for saving and management of constructional data of casing-class parts. Therefore, the method of representation and saving casing-class constructional knowledge was developed. The proposed method is based on application of the design feature technique.

The paper presents a method of building a complementary computer application for the Surveying Database program, capable of executing various surveying computations. The application uses for the computations data stored in the Database, especially the points’ coordinates. The computations can be also executed for any coordinates entered manually into proper forms of the application. The method presented application the database management system of MS Access, which allows to fulfill individual needs in computations, control and display of the results. The coordinates gained in the computations can be automatically added to the Database resources.

W pracy pokazano sposób tworzenia aplikacji uzupełniającej bazę danych geodezyjnych, której zadaniem jest prowadzenie różnorodnych obliczeń geodezyjnych. Aplikacja korzysta w trakcie obliczeń z danych zawartych w bazie, w szczególności ze współrzędnych punktów. Obliczenia mogą być wykonywane również dla dowolnych współrzędnych wprowadzanych do odpowiednich formularzy. Pokazano sposób działania aplikacji opartej na systemie zarządzania bazą danych programu Access, która pozwoli na zaspokojenie indywidualnych potrzeb w zakresie obliczeń, kontroli i prezentacji wyników. Uzyskane w wyniku obliczeń współrzędne mogą być automatycznie aktualizowane w bazie danych.

Przedstawiono krótki rys historyczny rozwoju informatyki medycznej oraz główne cele stosowania informatyki w medycynie z uwzględnieniem programów e-zdrowia i e-nauczania, opis usług telematyki medycznej oraz ich wpływ na rozwój usług informatycznych. Usługi telematyki medycznej rozwijają się bardzo szybko i stanowią jeden z podstawowych elementów, które wyznaczają pozycję rozwoju społecznego i tworzą podstawy społeczeństwa informacyjnego. Opracowano etapy projektowania i realizacji systemu telemedycznego, a także omówiono tworzenie aplikacji wykorzystując systemy zarządzania bazami danych MS Access oraz Oracle.

The article has presented a very short outline of the history of the evelopment of the medical Information Technology and main aims of practicing of the Information Technology in medicine together with so called e-health and e-teaching programmes, description of medical telematics services and their influence on development of the information services. Medical telematics services are developing very fast and are constituting one of the basic elements which indicate the level of social development and make the basis of information society. In the article, there have been compiled the stages of designing and making the telemedical system, there has also been discussed the process of making applications with the aid of database managment systems mainly MS Access and Oracle.
