The paper analyzes the estimation of the fundamental frequency from the real speech signal which is obtained by recording the speaker in the real acoustic environment modeled by the MP3 method. The estimation was performed by the Picking-Peaks algorithm with implemented parametric cubic convolution (PCC) interpolation. The efficiency of PCC was tested for Catmull-Rom, Greville, and Greville two- parametric kernel. Depending on MSE, a window that gives optimal results was chosen.
This paper describes the problem of tampering detection and discusses the main methods used for authenticity analysis of digital audio recordings. For the first topic, two frequency measurement algorithms based on electric network frequency criterion are applied. Time-frequency analysis is used and improved with reassignment method for purpose of visual inspection of modified recordings. The algorithms are shortly described and exemplary plots are presented with interpretation. The last described method, recently proposed, is based on checking frame offsets in compressed audio files.

Petitcolas has proposed a steganographic technique called MP3Stego which can hide secret messages in a MP3 audio. This technique is well-known because of its high capacity. However, in rare cases, the normal audio encoding process will be terminated due to the endless loop problem caused by embedding operation. In addition, the statistical undetectability of MP3Stego can be further improved. Inspired by MP3Stego, a new steganographic method for MP3 audio is proposed in this paper. The parity bit of quantization step rather than the parity bit of block size in MP3Stego is employed to embed secret messages. Compared with MP3Stego, the proposed method can avoid the endless loop problem and achieve better imperceptibility and higher security.
