This paper presents a study conducted using the Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) to explore surface irrigation potential zones in the Didesa sub-basin of the Abay basin in Ethiopia. Physical land features, such as land use / land cover (LULC), slope, soil depth, drainage, and road proximity, along with climate factors like rainfall and evapotranspiration, and population density, were identified as criteria for the exploration. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is a powerful structured decision-making technique commonly used for complex multi-criteria analysis problems where multiple criteria need to be considered. The importance of the criteria was prioritised and ranked in the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Five qualitative-quantitative based surface irrigation potential zones were identified, namely highly suitable (48.40%), moderately suitable (27.26%), marginally suitable (13.27%), not suitable (4.91%), and irrigation constraints (6.16%). The consistency of the AHP technique in the exploration of surface irrigation potential zones is evaluated by the consistency index at CI = 0.011 and confirmed the correctness of weights assigned for the individual key factor in the AHP. The accuracy of the potential zones generated in the AHP was evaluated with ground-truth points and a supervised LULC classification map. Moreover, a good agreement was made among the classes with the kappa index (KI = 0.93). Therefore, the application of the MCA for the exploration of surface irrigation potential zones was successful, and the results of the study will be useful to strengthen the irrigation in the explored potential zones.

This study deals with the synthesis of selected attributes of public transport accessibility. The aim is to present a new method of multi-criteria analysis. As the research area, the city of Cracow has been chosen. The GTFS (General Transit Feed Specification) system has been used to obtain traffic data for buses and trams within the city‘s transport company (MPK Krakow). The analysis itself consists of 4 main accessibility indicators (walking time to each stop, number of lines, directions, and connections from each stop). The problem of exceeding the stops accessibility beyond the administrative border of Cracow has been solved by using a 500 m wide buffer zone around the city. To connect the individual layers of indicators into a multicriteria analysis, the Voronoi diagram function has been applied. The results of the method are presented in the form of synthetic maps of transport accessibility for each bus and tram stop in Cracow. Together with the synthetic accessibility maps, an index of a stop importance has been created as well, which consists of the sum of the mean percentages from 3 indicators (number of lines, directions, connections). The synthetic method used and acquired detailed values not only for the city of Cracow as a whole, but also its individual parts make it possible to provide a comprehensive picture of accessibility by public transport. This multicriteria analysis can also be extended for a comparative study of selected cities.

The systems for distribution MV network control play a significant role regarding the quality and reliability of the supplied power, because these carry out the remote control and continuous monitoring of the situation at important crossings within network. Further, these also allow for quick solutions to problems, especially the ones of fault nature, they also simplify manipulations for the planned actions. The remote-controlled circuit-breakers (Reclosers) are important components of these systems. With respect to the price of Recloser it is necessary that it be installed where it is required the most. Reclosers currently serve for replacement of the manually-controlled section disconnectors in the Czech Republic.

Systemy sterowania sieci dystrybucyjnych SN odgrywają ważną rolę w zakresie zapewnienia jakości i niezawodności zasilania, ponieważ zapewniają zdalne nadzorowanie i ciągłe monitorowanie w ważnych węzłach sieci. Ponadto pozwalają szybko rozwiązywać problemy, szczególnie w przypadku zwarć, jak również upraszczają wykonanie przełączeń planowych. Zdalnie sterowane sieciowe reclozery są ważnym elementem tych systemów. Z uwagi na wysoką cenę reclozery powinny być instalowane w miejscach o szczególnych wymaganiach. Obecnie w Czechach reclozery zastępują ręcznie sterowane sekcyjne rozłączniki.

Przedstawiono historię rozwoju inżynierii biochemicznej. Opisano typowy bioproces, na który składają się, oprócz właściwego etapu reakcyjnego z udziałem drobnoustrojów w bioreaktorze, procesy przygotowania substratów i oczyszczania bioproduktów. Analizując zjawiska zachodzące w bioreaktorze poza komórką drobnoustroju (faza abiotyczna) oraz we wnętrzu komórki zilustrowano rozwój inżynierii biochemicznej. Poprzez stechiometryczne modele metaboliczne podano zasady inżynierii metabolicznej bazującej na analizie strumieni metabolicznych (MFA) i analizie regulacji metabolicznej (MCA). Osiągnięcia inżynierii genetycznej umożliwiły właściwe wykorzystanie wyników modelowania metabolicznego, czego przykładem może być biosynteza rekombinowanych protein. Podkreślono znaczenie inżynierii biochemicznej w przyszłości.

Development of biochemical engineering has been presented. A typical bioprocess, which consists, besides the intrinsic process with the use of microorganisms, also of up- and down-stream processing has been described. The phenomena inside bioreactor in abiotic phase and inside microorganism cell have been analyzed. On the basis of metabolic stoichiometric models the principles of metabolic engineering, in particular metabolic flux analysis (MFA) and metabolic control analysis (MCA) have been given. The achievements of genetic engineering enabled proper implementation of metabolic modeling, exemplified by biosynthesis of recombinant protein. The importance of biochemical engineering for the future implementation of biotechnology has been emphasized.
