In this paper, the authors propose a new method for reducing both impulsive and white noise by use of M-transform and wavelet shrinkage. M-transform is a new signal transformation technique proposed by the authors, and any periodic time signal can be M-transformed into a sum of pseudorandom M-sequence. By using this property, it is shown that both impulsive noise and white noise can be M-transformed into small amplitude signals, which are removed by use of suitable filter, such as wavelet shrinkage.

The basic theory and the results of hardware implementation of M-transform are presented in this paper. The M-transform can be used for fast computations of impulse responses of LTI systems stimulated with maximum length sequences. As it bases on binary Walsh-Hadamard transform, it seems to be easy and efficiency implemented in hardware. As it is shown, for the serial hardware implementation integrated circuits XC2S30 from Xilinx SPARTAN II family of FPGA is big enough to create control and calculation unit for impulse response measurement system based on 2¹⁵ -point M-transform.
