In this work the sample and size limit conditions, acoustic wave length limitations in ultrasonic methods of materials testing were discussed. Presented discussion summarised the conditions indicating the type of measured sample (one-, two- or three-dimensional) and theoretical relations applicable in each type of samples. Additionally, the description and important technical data concerning the construction and operation of UMT-01 equipment were also given. The influence of measurement parameters on the obtained results was discussed on the basis of methodically performed tests. The derived conclusions would be useful in future investigations using UMT-01.
