This study focuses on modeling three phenomena that greatly affect the performance of lost circulation materials (LCMs) in sealing thief zones: the process of construction of the LCM seal, the final flow rate after its creation, and the fractability of this seal to the pressures inside the wellbore. To model them, concepts related to fluid mechanics, and geomechanics become of the utmost importance. To help the validation of the models presented in this work, an experimental facility to simulate lost circulation was constructed. The facility makes use of a real limestone core drilled with the Tulsa Drilling Research Projects (TUDRP) drilling rig. This experimental setup represents progress in the reproduction of overall field conditions in comparison with other setups found in the literature. Several tests were performed with walnut at different sizes and concentrations, as well as with distinct fracture openings, inclinations, and orientations. As a result, a D90 as large as the size of the fracture aperture ends up to being effective in the plugging process. In addition, a D50 the size of 1/3 of the fracture opening also provides of a good seal. Depending on the concentration, smaller sizes can be applied - the smaller the size is, the larger the concentration must be. Finally, a computer program has been developed. Estimations of particle size distribution (PSD), plug time, and flow rate after seal formation are outcomes. This method of LCM selection can be used to assess the performance of different LCMs in the field. Hence, cost, time, and energy can be saved in dealing with lost circulation.

In this paper we describe a sensitive and reproducible reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method with photodiode-array detection for isolation and quantification of the bioactive hydrophilic constituent 7-(1- O -β-D -galacturonide-4′-(1- O -β-D -glucopyranosyl)-3′,4′,5,7-tetrahydroxyflavone, 1 , from the seeds of Cuminum cyminum . Compound 1 was separated isocratically on a C 18 preparative column, in high purity, after removal of solvents. The purity and identity of the compound were established by use of LC-mass spectrometry and by spectroscopic techniques ( 1 H and 13 C NMR). The purity of 1 was also confirmed by HPTLC.

E-learning - a new trend of the "distance learning" which is found to be a competitive method to the trainings lead in the traditional way. Is it the same way with e-education? How much time does it take to change our universities form their present form into the virtual one and is it possible to completely change form education to learning? The main goal of this elaboration is to explain basic problems of the distance education and learning area especially those which involve usage of information technologies. Another one is to show the criteria applied during the process of creation of electronic courses (e-courses). The following article includes information about the history of the distance learning, problems concerning the technological aspects of maintaining and managing the learning processes, standards applied during production and implementation of those systems and basic terms connected with e-learning. The next part of the paper was devoted to the methodology and tools which are used for creating e-courses for the Internet solutions. The final part is dedicated to the example of the project of an electronic course which includes selection of tools and their implementation for that specific problem.
