The analysis of spatial and functional modifi cations of the palace in Krzesimów in Mełgiew commune aiming at adaptation of the building to the requirements of a social welfare home

The palace in Krzesimów was built in the classicist style at the beginning of 19th century. The building is the part of the palace-park complex entered into the register of monuments because of its historical, aesthetical and landscape values. From 1970s, it is the headquarters of a social welfare home. Over the years, this function enforced many changes in the functional layout of the building to adapt it to the needs of people with various types and levels of disability. Despite many minor renovations and modifi cations, the palace didn’t undergo complete overhaul, which would greatly improve the technical condition of the original fabric. This aim of article is to analyse introduced functional changes, which were supposed to facilitate the use of the building by the handicapped, and to consider what actions must be undertaken in order to improve its technical condition. The authors of the paper underline the need to start renovation works on the basis of the archive documentation, as well as conducted survey and research of its current technical condition.

Zespół pałacowo-parkowy w Krzesimowie zlokalizowany jest we wschodniej części gminy Mełgiew około 20 kilometrów od Świdnika. Obecnie składa się z części rezydencjonalnej – „pałacu na wyspie” i krajobrazowego parku.Pierwsze wzmianki dotyczące majątku pochodzą z XVI wieku, jednak krajobrazowy park wraz z zachowanymi zabudowaniami powstał w I połowie XIX wieku kiedy to właścicielami dóbr była rodzina Stamirowskich. W roku 2016 na potrzeby projektu rewaloryzacji zabytkowego założenia przeprowadzona została szczegółowa inwentaryzacja dendrologiczna oraz projekt gospodarki drzewostanem. Dokumentacja została wykonana po raz pierwszy na mapie do celów projektowych i objęła osiem hektarów parku wraz z alejami wyznaczającymi granice zespołu. The palace-park complex in Krzesimow located is in the eastern part of the municipality of Melgiew about 20 kilometers from Swidnik. Nowadays, it consists of the residential part (the „palace on the island) and a park dated back to 19th centaury. The first mention of the residential area dates back to the 16th century. In 19th century, when the Stamirowski family owned the property, the park and the preserved buildings were built. In 2016 the detailed dendrological inventory and a tree management project were carried out. It was the first time when the documentation was made on the map for design. It covered eight hectares of the park along with the alleys. The paper presents the results of the studies in the context of park composition and its state of preservation.
