The object in question has been designed to provide mechanical and biological treatment in the UCT process in Kartuzy. The measured results showed that the hydraulic load received by the plant and the organic load received by the activated sludge in the bioreactors of the plant were lower than those anticipated by the designer. But those decreases were found to have little effect on the quality of the effluent. Comparison of the quality of untreated and treated water revealed that the removal efficiency varied from 82% to 96.5% - both for organic compounds and nutrients. BOD5, COD, total phosphorus and total nitrogen in treated samples varied from 1.1 to 7.5 g02/m3, 25.0 to 56.3 g02/m3, 0.16 to 0.74 gP/m3, and 10.4 to 18.8 gN/m3, respectively.
