However, the infrared radiation has been discovered more than 200 years ago, near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), as a useful method, was recognized in the 1960s. Currently, under the influence of technological development, quantitative and qualitative methods require short time and precision of measurements. NIRS has a growing recognition in the industry, particularly pharmaceutical where each component of the finished product has impact on the quality and safety of the product. Freeze-dried immunological veterinary medicinal products (IVMPs), despite high specificity, contain not too complicated matrices for analysis. Karl Fischer titration is routinely used as accurate and effective method to determine the water content in the IVMPs, but the use of near-infrared spectroscopy allows to avoid the adverse impact of environmental factors on the measurements. However, for NIRS, there is a need to create a calibration model which will be precise for high diversity of samples. The most important is the optimization of the model by eliminating the factors that might influence the measurement of water content. Quantification methods most frequently used are: MLR, PLS and PCR, which are preceded by the appropriate pretreatments (derivatives of Savitzky Golay).

Dielectric response analyses of oil-paper/pressboard insulation in power equipment have been introduced for condition monitoring. This paper presents results of a laboratory study where dielectric spectroscopy measurements in frequency domain were performed on oil impregnated pressboard samples containing different amount of moisture (0.6% - 4%). Such data are necessary for correct interpretation of the diagnostic measurements. The measurements were earned out in the frequency range of 0.1 mHz - 1 MHz at temperatures between 20 °C and 80 °C. The measured dielectric response data were used for obtaining information on the change of activation energy and dc conductivity of pressboard with moisture content. The responses obtained were used to derive master curves. Furthermore, the influences of the non-linear behaviour and oil layers on the total dielectric response were discussed.

Omówiono metodę kulometryczną oznaczania zawartości wody w olejach smarowych za pomocą zestawu aparat Karla Fischera MKC 210/piec ADP 351 (Japonia). Przedstawiono możliwości zastosowań tej metody do oznaczania zawartości wody w olejach regenerowanych.

A coulometric method for the determination of water content In lubricating oils with the aid a system composed of Karl Fischer apparatus MKC 210 and moisture evaporator ADP 351 (Japan) has been described in the paper. Possibilities of application of this method in investigation of process separating water from oil subjected to cleaning have also been presented.
