W artykule przedstawiono charakterystykę złoża rud cyny w paśmie łupkowym Starej Kamienicy w Górach Izerskich, historię eksploatacji tego złoża oraz pozostałości dawnych robót górniczych. Podjęto zagadnienie możliwości współczesnego wykorzystania zachowanych wyrobisk do celów turystycznych. Przedstawiono niezrealizowaną koncepcję współczesnego wykorzystania udokumentowanych zasobów rud cyny.

In this article presented is a characterisation of the stratiform tin deposits in the schist belt of the Stara Kamienica Chain /the Izerskie Mountains/, the history of mining extraction of the deposit and the remnants of the old mining operations. Tackled here has been the issue of an opportunity of taking advantage of using the preserved abandoned mine workings for tourism purposes. Presented is the non-realised idea of modern utilisation of the documented deposits of tin ores.

Autor prezentuje koncepcję systemu elektronicznej mapy animowanej, stanowiącego narzędzie przeznaczone do generowania animacji kartograficznych oraz dokonywania kompleksowych analiz dynamiki zmian środowiska z wykorzystaniem animacji i funkcji systemu informacji przestrzennej zorientowanego czasowo. Przedstawia metodę referencyjno-retrospektywną opracowania warstw czasowych (na podstawie danych satelitarnych, zdjęć lotniczych i map topograficznych), spełniających wymogi sine qua non realizacji animacji kartograficznej. Autor prezentuje również badania tego typu systemu wykonanego dla terenu polskiej i czeskiej części Gór Izerskich na podstawie danych z lat 1767-1994.

The paper describes a concept of electronic animated map (EMA) of land use changes - a tool dedicated to creation of cartographic animations and implementations of the spatio-temporal complex analysis of environment dynamics (using cartographic animations and time-oriented GIS functions). The methodology of creation of EMA is also presented as well as conclusions concerning the testing of created system. Author proposes a new method of creation of time-oriented GIS databa­se called "reference-retrospect method". It generates unitemporal layers (basing on remote sensing and archival cartographical documents), which fulfil sine qua non conditions for cartographic animations. Efficiency of designed system was tested on electronic animated map realised for the test site of the Polish and Czech part of the Izerskie Mountains (1767-1994). Performed tests prove that the electronic animated map is a very useful tool, which facilitates research on dynamics of environment. It may also be of assistance in space planning decisions. In the future, it may also constitute one of the components of complex multitemporal analysis models.

In this paper features of changes in regime of water cycle in West Sudety region are being described. The analyses of long-term time series (1982-2001) of precipitation and outflow measurements in two small experimental catchments were the base for drawing the conclusion. The study area is located in south-west part of Poland. This is the area of ecological catastrophe because of sudden extensive antropogenic deforestation. On that area in recent years subsequent trials of forest renovation are performed although theirs results were not always positive. The analyses of double mass curve of precipitation and river outflow proved than in last two decades of 20th century the changes in regime of water cycle within the study area had different directions on each of the catchments. In Kamienna basin (Jakuszyce - 5,8 km[^2]) where the primary deforestation was the most extensive (85%), relative increase (from 14 to 16%) in proportion to precipitation amount, was observed from the beginning.The increasing trend was observed during all 20th years period of study. The opposite trend was found in Kwisa catchment (20% of deforested area). Also from the beginning the decrease of relative discharge was observed. The possible reason of it were the effects of more positive results in afforestation activity on west part of Sudety Mts. On both of tested catchments were confirmed, in years 1986-1990, fact of shorting the periods of outflow the spring waters (from thawing processes) it was about 25 days shorter in comparison to years before deforestation. For deforested catchments the yearly maximum of discharge moved from May to April. So far the research, demonstrate that reaction of the hydrologic system within the mountainous catchments on sudden deforestation have a complicated and multi-direction feature and it is hard to put it under quantitative evaluation.
