The notion of preference is relevant across a variety of scientific disciplines, including economics and social sciences, operations research and decision sciences, artificial intelligence, psychology, and philosophy. Preferences provide a means for specifying desires in a declarative and intelligible way, a key element for the effective representation of knowledge and reasoning respecting the value systems of Decision Makers (DMs) [1].

W artykule przedstawiono możliwości wspomagania wybranych ekspertyz i opinii specjalistycznych przy wykorzystaniu specjalistycznego oprogramowania, na przykładzie rekonstrukcji wypadków i wyceny pojazdów samochodowych. Ze względu na rozległość tematu autor zdecydował się na zawężenie tematyki do wybranych programów, które są wykorzystywane w Polsce.

The article presents the possibilities of supporting selected expertizes and opinions using specialized software, on the example of reconstruction of accidents and valuation of motor vehicles. Because of the breadth of the topic – the author decided to narrow the topic to programs that are used in Poland.

Underground coal mining usually requires the development of a set of underground corridors (workings). The workings fulfill many different functions. They are used for transportation, ventilation, dewatering and even escape pathways. The proposition of a formal representation of a working's structure for deep coal mining has been presented. The model was developed as a basis for the software system, support management and operational activities for longwall deep mine. The proposed solution is based on graph formalism along with its matrix representation. However, the idea of matrix representation is enhanced. Not only are the topological properties of workings structure considered, but also information about their functions and spatial characteristic. The object model was designed and implemented based upon the matrix idea.
