In recent years we can see intensifying implementation of Intelligent Transport System (ITS) measures in Polish cities and on national roads. The architecture of the National Traffic Management System (KSZR) will enable the implementation of a uniform, integrated and intelligent ICT system to launch ITS systems that are the most important for drivers and the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA). This paper presents the current state of the implementation of the ITS services on national roads in functional, physical and logical terms and the premises for the KSZR’s development. The description of the state of the development of ITS services on national roads was compiled within the framework of the RID 4D “The impact of the usage of Intelligent Transport Systems services on the level of road safety” research project, funded by the National Centre for Research and Development and the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways.

W artykule przedstawiono problematykę związaną z oddziaływaniem usług ITS na potoki ruchu w systemie transportowym, na przykładzie aglomeracji górnośląskiej. Zapewnienie odpowiedniej konfiguracji funkcjonalno-użytkowej ITS wymaga dokładnego określenia zasadniczych struktur systemowych. W przedstawionym podejściu podstawowym narzędziem służącym do oceny oddziaływania usług ITS na zachowania transportowe użytkowników systemu transportowego jest modelowanie procesów transportowych w ujęciu czteroetapowym. Artykuł zawiera założenia opisu formalnego będące podstawą analiz zakłóceń przepływu potoku ruchu w węzłach elementarnych sieci transportowej.

The article presents the problems associated with the impact of ITS services on traffic flows in the transportation system on the example of the Upper Silesian agglomeration. The accurate determination of the basic structures of the system is required to provide proper functional as well as useful configuration of ITS services. In the approach, the four-step travel modelling is a primary tool to assess the impact of ITS services on travel behaviour of the users of transportation system. The article contains a formal description of the assumptions that give rise to analysis of traffic flow disturbances in elementary nodes of transportation network.
