Prof. Gronowski recalls his own history and the history of the school. He was one the first students and later – scientific worker on the first Polish academy on West Pomerania. He divides this history on four periods. First one – the period of Trade Academy (1946–1949) during which the Department of Maritime Transport was established. The second – which started with the first reform of high education in Poland (1950). That time different transportation majors were developed. The third and the longest lasted from 1955 to 1986. This period was also the most fruitful. The fourth one started with establishing University of Szczecin.
