This article proposes a method to support decision making from a cost management perspective in the initial tage of production planning. In a research analyzed the problem of selecting production re-sources for order realization. The research was based on computer simulation. The developed model focuses on the planning of the production process in the event that the products have not yet been produced and it is necessary to decide where to produce it (with what production resources) so that the total production costs are as low as possible. In this concept, the FlexSim simulation environment with a built-in optimization module was used to solve the problem. The basic steps of simulation model built were discussed, taking into account the necessary information and input data. The results show the impact of the application of selected simulation scenarios on the level of use of production re-sources, due to the minimization of the total production costs and the duration time of the production process.

Optimization of production logistics processes through the use of simulation tools brings a lot of benefits to a production company, and thus significantly reduces production costs. Increasing competition resulting from the use of production automation to increase productivity has increased the complexity of production systems that can only be analysed by simulation. Production logistics performs management functions such as planning, motivating, organising and controlling. It does not deal with technological processes, but the organisation of physical delivery and displacement of components and information in the system. An important feature of production logistics is combining supply logistics with distribution logistics. If the production logistics is properly organised, it provides access to all materials and components of a given product during the implementation of a specific order. Simulation tools ensure continuity and rhythm of production after it is started, as well as convenient conditions for using modern internal transport. The article presents the Flexsim simulation tool, which was used to improve production logistics in the studied enterprise. The programme also contributed as an opportunity to improve and shorten production cycles, maintain optimal inventories, select packaging and logistics units, as well as the ability to use automatic identification of raw materials, materials or semi-finished products.

W artykule przedstawiono nowe możliwości oprogramowania symulacyjnego i jego zastosowanie do optymalizacji struktury produkcji. W wielu przedsiębiorstwach podstawowe pytanie dotyczy ustalenia, ile należy produkować danego typu wyrobu, aby przy limitowanych ilościach środków produkcji zyski ze sprzedaży były maksymalne. W badaniach operacyjnych podobne problemy rozwiązuje się metodami programowania liniowego. W tej koncepcji do rozwiązania problemu zbudowano model symulacyjny procesu produkcyjnego. Użyto nowej generacji środowiska symulacyjnego 3D FlexSim z wbudowanym modułem optymalizacyjnym OptQuest.

This article presents new opportunities of simulation programs and their application for optimizing the production structure. In many enterprises the fundamental question concerns the determination of the amount of goods to be produced with limited quantities of means of production, so that sales proceeds gain the highest level of profits. In operational researches similar problems are being solved by linear programming methods. In this concept of solution there has been built a simulation model of the production process. In this case there was a new generation of 3D FlexSim simulation environment used with the integrated OptQuest optimization.
