The paper compares plans for the inland water transport development in the Kujawy-Pomerania Province, resulting from planning and strategic documents published at the EU, national and local administration levels. Based on the analysis of the said documents and the relevant literature, solutions permitting the enhancement of inland water transport importance in Kujawy-Pomerania Province as well as the possibilities of connecting it with the national and European transport system are indicated.

Artykuł przedstawia strategie logistyczne związane z bezpiecznym transportem produktów spożywczych na tle stale rosnących wymagań prawnych w tym zakresie. Autorki podjęły próbę zanalizowania europejskiego systemu transportowego i nowoczesnych rozwiązań logistycznych w przedsiębiorstwach transportowych w oparciu o przedstawienie strategii logistycznych stosowanych w przewozie produktów żywnościowych przez niemiecką sieć sklepów spożywczych „Lidl”. Jako metodę opisu przyjęto transport jako element systemu logistycznego.

The focus of the article is to present the strategies for logistics and safe transportation against the background of everincreasing regulatory requirements in this field. The authors attempt to analyse the European transport system and modern logistics solutions in transportation companies. The aim has been to describe trends taking place in cross-border handling of the food supply . In this context, attempts to present logistics strategies used in the transport of food products by the German grocery chain supplier „Lidl” have been made. As for the method of description, transport has been treated as a part of the logistics system .

The paper presents selection aspects of functioning of the European transport hubs. A review of transport hubs which include: sea ports, inland ports, airports, integrated logistics centers, intermodal rail terminals and dry port. Was analyzed a range of transport service and forwarding and logistics service for freight, means of transportation and intermodal transport units. Evaluated the impact of provided services on the efficiency the flow of goods in the supply chain. Indicated to the importance of transport hubs in European transport system and supply chain networks.

One of the EU instruments aiming at the integration of the sea shipping in sea-land chains and in transport corirdors, is creation of motorways of the sea. The idea of creation of motorways of he sea was presented in the White Book of transport policy of the EU in 2001 as one of the initiatives aiming at enhancement of the European transport system. According to the assumptions,the motorwayof the sea connection would be a real alternative for connections road. The article presents economic and non-economic conditioning as well as the concept of the motorways ot the sea. It also presents prior EU initiatives in terms of motorways of the sea.

Na pozycję Polski w europejskim systemie transportowym wpływa wiele elementów zarówno ogólnogospodarczych, jak i tych bezpośrednio związanych z przewozami ładunków i pasażerów. Szczególnie ciekawie.wygląda to w obszarze rynku bałtyckiego. Jest to bowiem miejsce styku "starych" i "nowych" państw UE. Różnice w poziomie rozwoju gospodarczego, strukturze podziału gałęziowego oraz wynikach poszczególnych podmiotów działających na rynku transportowym mają istotny wpływ na pozycję, jaką zajmuje dane państwo w regionie. Analiza tych elementów, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem transportu morskiego i lotniczego, to najważniejsze zagadnienia przedstawionego poniżej materiału.

The position of Poland in the European transport system depends from the country economic development as well as cargo and passengers carriages. Significant interesting case of the European transport is the Baltic Sea region. It is a place of location both 'old' and 'new' European Union member states. Differences noted with reference to the level of economic development, structure of the modal split of transport or the transport performance have influence on the competitive position of particular countries in the Region. The analysis of that elements, with focus on the maritime and air transport is the main problem of the elaboration.
