Assessment of the transport intensity of the European economy

The excessive increase in transport intensity is one of the negative impacts on the economy. The costs borne due to transport activities are indirectly expressed by the volume of carriages (in tons) and by the scope of transport activity (in ton-kilometers). The result of social and economic activities are global product values and national incomes. This article shows the research on transport activity expressed through transport activity (in ton-kilometers) for all means of transport in total, the results of social and economic activities expressed using the gross domestic product, as well as shaping transport intensity of national economies in selected European countries. The analysis of the course of the exponential function curves, as well as polynomial curves has been carried out, and conclusions have been formulated on their bases.

Obecny model organizacji procesów transportu i logistyki powoduje nieefektywne wykorzystanie zasobów transportowych, wysokie koszty transportu, wzrost kongestii i emisji CO2. Efekt ten wykazano w badaniach przeprowadzonych przez autorów, a także przez European Environmental Agency. Ta sytuacja może być zmieniona poprzez rozwój alternatywnego modelu biznesowego dla współpracy w organizacji procesów transportowych w łańcuchach dostaw. Celem tego artykułu jest przedstawienie praktycznego wdrożenia platformy T-Scale, która umożliwia współpracę między niezależnymi użytkownikami transportu i dostawcami usług transportowych. Co więcej, został dokonany przegląd istniejącej komunikacji z jej głównymi funkcjonalnościami. Artykuł zawiera także zestawienie głównych zalet płynących ze współpracy grupy firm działających w branży FMCG w Polsce.

Current model of organization of transport&logistics processes results in inefficient use of transport resources, high transport costs, increasing congestions and CO2 emission. This effect has been demonstrated by research conducted by the authors as well as by the European Environmental Agency. This situation can be change by development of alternative business model for collaboration in organisation of the transport processes within the supply chains. The aim of this paper is to present practical implementation of the T-Scale platform that enables collaboration between independent transport users and transport service providers. Moreover, an overview of existing communication platform with its major functionalities are presented. The work is summarized by the major benefits of collaboration achieved by the group of companies operating in the FMCG sector in Poland.

W artykule przeanalizowano znaczenie etyki i społecznej odpowiedzialności dla skutecznej działalności firm w dłuższym okresie czasu oraz rolę, jaką we wdrażaniu zasad etyki odgrywają instytucje biznesowe. Przedstawiono starania teoretyków i praktyków tego przedmiotu z Unii Europejskiej, przyczyniające się do tego, aby ekonomia europejska stała się ekonomią społecznie spójną, najbardziej konkurencyjną, opartą na wiedzy i na zasadach zrównoważonego rozwoju, o wysokim wskaźniku zatrudnienia. Przedstawiono działania organizacyjne ekonomistów i przedsiębiorców europejskich i polskich, zmierzające do rozpowszechniania idei biznesu etycznego, głównie przez organizowanie specjalistycznych konferencji międzynarodowych oraz realizację odpowiednich międzynarodowych programów. W tym kierunku działają m.in. Europejskie Stowarzyszenie Etyki Biznesu (European Business Ethics Network - EBEN) i Polskie Stowarzyszenie Etyki Biznesu - EBEN Polska.

In the article the importance of business ethics and social responsibility for the effective activities of firms in a longer period of time and the role which the business institutions play when implementing the principles of ethics have been analysed. The efforts have been presented of the theorists and practitioners of this subject from the European Union which contribute to the fact that European economy has become socially compact, the most competitive, based on the knowledge and on the principles of the sustainable development, with a high employment index. The organising activities of the economists and the European and Polish businessmen, which aim at dissemination of the idea of the business ethics, have been mentioned. These aims can be mainly achieved by organising specialistic international conferences and by realising the suitable international programmes. The European Business Ethics Network and tl sociation of Business Ethics - EBEN Poland - act, i in this direction.
