Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is becoming increasingly often an essential element of a strategy of modern enterprises. CSR activities include a wide range of relationships with stakeholders, that is entities who are associated with the activity of an organization or are under its influence. The natural environment is one of most important stakeholders. The CSR strategy implements the postulate of the pursuit of sustainable development, that is, the development where the economic issues are treated equally to social and environmental issues. Over the years there were taken many initiatives which were aimed at the promotion of this idea. The article discusses the selected initiatives, paying a particular attention to the elements concerning the natural environment.
