W pracy przedstawiono ogólną charakterystykę i funkcje zbiornika wodnego Dobczyce oraz charakterystykę strefy ochronnej ujęcia wody pitnej. Omówiono warunki naturalne, aktualny stan użytkowania strefy oraz konieczne prace urządzeniowo-rolne do ochrony sanitarnej zbiornika retencyjnego.

The paper presents the general characteristics and functions of the Dobczyce water reservoir as well as the characteristics of the protective zone of the drinking water intake. Natural conditions, the current state of use of the zone and the necessary equipment and agricultural works for sanitary protection of the retention reservoir were discussed.

Zakład Uzdatniania Wody Raba jest największym producentem wody w krakowskim systemie wodociągowym. W ciągu dziewięciu miesięcy 2021 r. wyprodukował ponad 28 mln m3 wody, a w całym 2020 r. – przeszło 36 mln m3 . Obecnie poddawany jest renowacji jeden z dwóch przewodów tranzytowych prowadzących wodę do Krakowa z ZUW Raba – rurociąg DN 1000.

Dobczyce, miasto z ponad 700-letnią historią, są jedną z najbardziej rozwiniętych gmin w województwie małopolskim. W związku z planami rozbudowy strefy przemysłowej w Dobczycach oraz zwiększającym się ruchem tranzytowym przebiegającym przez tę miejscowość, na początku 2000 r. pojawiały się pierwsze pomysły budowy obwodnicy miasta, która ułatwiłaby dostęp do ciągle rozwijającej się strefy przemysłowej (obecnie działa tam 12 fi rm zatrudniających ponad 1500 osób), a także przeniosła ciężki ruch samochodowy z urokliwego i odnowionego rynku.

Góra Zamkowa w Dobczycach zbudowana jest z piaskowca istebniańskiego. Surowiec ten posłużył do wzniesienia zamku, jego późniejszych modernizacji, użyty został do budowy wielu obiektów Starego Miasta. Przepływająca u stóp wzgórza rzeka Raba wypreparowała od strony południowo-zachodniej strome urwisko, tam też w XIII wieku został założony kamieniołom funkcjonujący do XIX wieku. W skarpie Góry Zamkowej rozwinęły się obrywy. Wraz ze skałami piaskowcowymi, co najmniej dwukrotnie runęły pomieszczenia zabytkowego grodu. Obecnie zamek został częściowo zrekonstruowany i udostępniony do zwiedzania, w kolekcji muzealnej znajduje się szereg eksponatów wykonanych z kamienia.

The Caste Mt. in Dobczyce is built of the Istebna Sandstones. This rock was a very popular building stone used for construction of the caste and for its later renovations as well as for construction of the old town in Dobczyce. The Raba River, which flows at the foot of the Castle Mt. cut a steep scarp in its southwestern slope. A quarry which was developed in this slope in the 13th century has been in operational until the 19th century. The cliff was subjected to rockfalls, which damaged the castle at least twice in its history. Recently, the castle was partly reconstructed and opened to the visitors. The museum collection includes numerous examples of stonework.

Recently the effects of global warming are more and more visible. The excent of enormous floods and their magnitudes are very difficult or even impossible to foresee, basing only on the medium-weather forecast. It often occurs that the reliable scenario can be obtained only when basing on the observations of the behavior of the river's catchment regarding its response to the precipitation in the real-time. From the point of view of the developing anti-flood warning systems it is important to know not only the longest possible to foresee horizon but also the degree of improvement of effectiveness of short-term prognosis. In the paper the possibilities of the usage of the artificial neural networks to determine the time-space relations between unsteady flows in the river's catchment are discussed. The usage of the neural nets is also proposed to identification of the exact time of occurrence of the culmination flows in the outlet cross-section. The proposed method is tested on the two examples of partial catchment of the river Raba, in the case of a short term prognosis. In the paper the possibilities and frontiers of the artificial neural networks' ability to foreseeing of the behavior of the natural system are also taken under consideration, in the case of different types of natural river systems.

In the Years 1997-1998 the authors condukted investigations of bank abrasion of the reservoir in Dobczyce. The objective of the investigations was evaluation of abrasion development during 10 years of the reservoir exploitation. Basing of the carried out observations and cross-profile bank measurements it was defined the range and effects of abrasion deformation, abrasion products quanity and it was worked out the prognosis of further development of this phenomenon.
