Reliability of diaphragm wall in serviceability limit states

The paper describes a procedure using serviceability limit state equations to calculate the reliability index for a laterally loaded diaphragm wall. The reliability indices related to the serviceability limit state have been obtained by creating two response surfaces: one based on the maximum lateral displacements of wall head and the other one using the maximum values of bending moments widening cracks in the wall concrete. The global reliability index has been obtained by using the appropriate system reliability formulae proposed by structural reliability theory.

Oszacowanie prawdopodobieństwa awarii ściany oporowej za pomocą tzw. ograniczeń Ditlevsena. Pionowa ściana wspornikowa z poziomą podstawą. Szerokość podstawy jako zmienny parametr projektowy. Właściwości parametrów gruntowych jako zmienne losowe o rozkładzie beta. Cztery formy utraty stateczności: wypieranie gruntu, obrót oraz przesunięcie w poziomie posadowienia i na styku dwóch warstw podłoża.

Estimate the probability of failure of retaining wall by Ditlevsen’s bounds. The vertical cantilever wall with a horizontal base. The heel of the wall as variable design parameter. Properties of soil parameters as random variables with beta distribution. Four modes of instability: bearing capacity, rotation (in terms of the resultant load location), sliding in the base foundation level and at the interface between the two layers of the soil. Correlation of all four limit states.
