The contemporary work manifests that friction stir welding (FSW) is a viable avenue for joining AA1100 aluminium (Al) to C12200 copper (Cu) plates. In this present study, the response of distinctive welding parameters (viz. tool geometries, tool rotational speed, tool travel speed, and tool plunging depth) on weld quality has been investigated. The present work focused on both microstructural investigation and mechanical properties examination. It has been observed that the process parameters have significant effects on weld quality. The design of the experiments has been executed considering four welding input parameters in two variables and selected L-16 orthogonal array to limit the experimental replications. It has been observed that good quality of welds produced by keeping the tool pin offset around 4mm towards the aluminium side and 2mm towards the copper side. And it has also been noticed that right-hand threaded tool pins are giving good weld quality compared to left-handed thread. The joint efficiencies for the welds E2, E14 which were welded by RHT tools were 75.3% and 74.61% and the Strength (UTS) of the welds for the same tools exhibit’s greater than the LHT tools i.e., 98 and 95Mpa. Moderate hardness values are observed for the same welds E1 and E14 with the parameters 1100rpm, 98welding speed, and 1.6mm tool plunge depth. . It also noticed that the weld quality can be significantly enhanced by using proper tool plunge and tool pin geometries compared to the other process parameters.

The study investigates the effect of heat treatment on the microstructure evolution and properties of an age-hardened Cu-3Ti-2Mg alloy. The precipitated Cu2Mg and β'-Cu4Ti phases consequently yield a depletion of the Cu matrix in regards to Ti and Mg solutes, which enhances the electrical conductivity. The Cu2Mg Laves phase and β'-Cu4Ti phase precipitates increase the hardness of the alloy due to the consistency and coherency of the later phase. However, the decrease of hardness is mainly associated with the coarse microstructures, that can be formed due to the phase transformation from metastable β'-Cu4Ti phase to more stable Cu3Ti phase. In the range of experiments, the optimum process is solution treatment at 700°C for 4 h, with subsequent age-hardening at 450°C for 4 h. The electrical conductivity, hardness, tensile strength, and elongation of the Cu-3Ti-2Mg alloy were 15.34 % IACS, 344 HV, 533 MPa, and 12%, respectively.

EN
Mechanical properties of a CuAl10Fe4Ni4 bronze subjected to solution heat treatment and toughening were examined. In solution heat treatment, a microjet was used to raise the cooling rate. A slight increase of mechanical properties was observed.

The aim of this study was to make the diagnosis of the operating conditions of aluminium bronze BA 1032. Current intensity was selected on an experimental way to assure of stable melting of the surface layer together with inserted components at small current intensity. The examined questions were: the influence of surface treatment of aluminium alloy onto structure by collected energy source; the geometric parameters of the surface melted by TIG welding method of bronze surface plated alloy ingredients by using different current parameters. The results of this study indicate that the thermic exposure value, it means: the sort of concentrated energy source as well as its speed, as well as the sort of alloy additives have an influence on exploitation parameters of tested samples.

Celem pracy była diagnostyka właściwości eksploatacyjnych brązu aluminiowego BA1032. Próbki do badań pobierano z obszaru ustabilizowanego oddziaływaniem skupionego źródła ciepła (stała, ustabilizowana szerokość strefy wpływu ciepła).

Content available remote Evaluation of possibilities for leaded brasses replacement
EN
Purpose: Leaded brasses are most commonly used Cu alloys, especially for home fixture. High toxicity of lead to human caused tendency to eliminate lead additions from these alloys. In this work a discussion of solutions to this problem is shown and possibilities of leaded brasses replacement with multi-component non-leaded brasses. Design/methodology/approach: In this work general properties of multi-component brasses are investigated (mechanical, technological and operating properties) as well as its structure and their correlation with chemical composition. Some interactions of additions are shown with physical and mathematical model of its influence on properties. Findings: It was found that in a complex of additions (closed system) the interactions can be described by physical model and mathematical equations showing properties in function of chemical composition can be used to optimize chemical composition for engineering alloys with known properties. Research limitations/implications: However introducing new elements to the system (chemical composition) will disturb the created models (physical and mathematical). It must be said that for investigated alloys optimal properties can be ensured using presented models. Practical implications: Presented approach enables optimization of alloy properties for particular application. Properties can be introduced to the mathematical model which with use of optimization methods will return needed chemical composition. Originality/value: Alloys engineered with use of presented approach have properties close to leaded brass with low increase in total production costs.
