The text concerns the foundation of the world's tallest building erected in Dubai. Prior to designing the foundation for the Burj Khalifa facility (828m tall), a detailed geological research was carried out. Such a tall structure required the use of a proper foundation to enable the transfer of loads. At the core of a well-designed foundation lies not only the reduction of structure's settlement and transfer of loads from the building's structure, but also the minimisation of the impact of potential geohazards, including, among others: earthquakes, tsunami, landslides or floods. It took a few years to prepare a foundation design for Burj Khalifa. The preparatory work is an example of an excellent conduct, in the aspect of the cooperation between subsoil and foundation, which ensures stability and safe operation of every building structure.
