Koncepcja społecznej gospodarki rynkowej stanowi duże osiągnięcie Europy, które zasługuje na szerokie upowszechnienie na całym świecie, przy wykorzystaniu modyfikacji wynikających ze współczesnej gospodarki i społeczeństwa. W artykule został scharakteryzowany Współcześnie konsensus brukselski, który można przeciwstawić konsensusowi waszyngtońskiemu i konsensusowi pekińskiemu. Podstawą konsensusu brukselskiego pozostaje nadal społeczna gospodarka rynkowa i państwo socjalne uzupełnione przez koncepcję zrównoważonego rozwoju, a także globalną regulację. W podsumowaniu autor podkreśla, że współcześnie niezbędne staje się uwzględnienie koncepcji zrównoważonego rozwoju i globalnej regulacji.

The concept of social market economy since the World War II was a dominating one. There had been dominated since the early 80s of the 20th century has been popularized. However, in practice, it has been dominated speculative financial capital established from “values for stockholders”. A critical to the neoliberal conception are the ideas of sustainable development and global regulation. There is a heated dispute pending presently between the neo-liberal conception and the conception of sustainable development and global regulation on the future of a society and an economy in the terms of the possibility of overcoming the present crisis. The social market economy is still a valuable alternative to the neo-liberal economic model. These conceptions of sustainable development and global regulation can be incorporated into a modified social market economy. The European model of the welfare state is becoming more attractive to the Washington and Beijing consensuses. This model is not only a historical achievement but also the solution for the future of Europe as well as the present world subjected to the process of economic and social globalization. Nowadays, can be said, that the importance of Brussels Consensus is growing for the world.
