Sensitivity of two species of entomopathogenic fungi: Beauveria bassinana and B. brongniartii and of three species of entomopathogenic nematodes: Steinernema glaseri, S. feltiae and Heterorhabditis megidis to low doses of two insecticides carbosulfan and carbofuran applied to forest soil to control cockchafer's grubs was studied. Carbosulfan inhibited the growth of both fungi. Carbofuran stimulated the growth of B. brongniartii. Mortiality of carbofuran treated nematodes was higher than mortality of those affected by carbosulfan. Both insecticides did not decrease the pathogenicity of fungi and nematodes towards Galleria mellonella L. larvae. The studies pointed to a possibility of using both insecticides in the Integrated Pest Management.

Zbadano wpływ jonów metali: Cd(II), Cu(II), Fe(III), K(I), Ni(II), Pb(II) Zn(II) oraz jonu amonowego NH4, dodawanych w czterech stężeniach do pożywek, na wzrost owadobójczych grzybów Beauveria bassiana i Beauveria brongniartii. Jony Ni(II), Cu(II), Fe(III) i Zn(II) najsilniej hamowały wzrost kolonii testowanych grzybów, zwłaszcza w najwyższym zastosowanym stężeniu, czyli 100-krotnie wyższym od średniej zawartości danego metalu w glebie.

The laboratory studies were carried out on the effect of metal ions i.e. Cd(II), Cu(II), Fe(III), K, Ni(II), Pb(II), Zn(II) and ammonium ion NH4 on the growth of entomopathogenic fungi Beauveria bassiana and Beauveria brongniartii. Ni(II), Cu(II), Fe(III) and Zn had the strongest inhibiting effect on mycelium growth of both investigated fungi, particularly in the highest concentrations. Beauveria bassiana seems to be more susceptible to the presence of these metal ions in the medium. Among heavy metals ions Pb(II) exhibited a weak inhibiting effect on both fungal species. The growth of fungi was stimulated by K and NH4 ions.
