The paper presents the technique to render the results of digital Brakhausen noise analysis independent of the distance between the head and the tested element. The results of laboratory tests on specimens with modelled micorcracs are presented. Experiments were run using the Thomas Hist instruments for finding histograms of Barkhausen pulse density in ferromagnetic materials. A digital method was applied to the study, and the distance between the head and the specimen was varied. The application of the invariant method of pulse number stabilisation made the number of pulses counted using the digital method independent of the distance between the measuring head and the tested piece.

W artykule przedstawiono techniczne mozliwości uniezależnienia wyników cyfrowej metody analizy szumów Barkhausena od odległości głowicy pomiarowej od powierzchni badanego elementu. Przedstawiono wybrane wyniki badań laboratoryjnych próbek z zamodelowanymi mikropęknięciami. Badania wykonano metodą cyfrową przy zmiennej odległości od powierzchni za pomocą aparatury Thomas-Hist przeznaczonej do wyznaczania histogramów gęstości występowania impulsów Brakhausena w materiałach ferromagnetycznych. Poprzez zastosowanie inwariantnej metody stabilizacji liczby impulsów Brakhausena uniezależniono wpływ odległości głowicy pomiarowej na liczbę zliczanych impulsów w cyfrowej metodzie analizy szumów Brakhausena.

Praca dotyczy zastosowań efektu Barkhausena do identyfikacji stanu naprężeń w materiałach ferromagnetycznych. Opisano zasadę działania aparatury pomiarowej, oraz prototypowego urządzenia wyznaczającego kierunki naprężeń głównych. Przedstawiono wyniki badań rozkładu wartości skutecznej napięcia szumu Barkhausena dla pewnych aplikacji przemysłowych w układzie współrzędnych biegunowych, oraz omówiono możliwości jej zastosowania w metaloznawstwie.

This paper concerns the adoptions of the Barkhausen's effect for the identification of stresses in ferromagnetic materials. The operational processes of the measuring apparatus and the action of the prototypical instrument, which calculates the directions of the predominant stresses, are presented below. The results of the investigations for the distribution of the RMS value of Barkhausen noise voltage for certain industrial applications are illustrated in the polar plot. The possibilities of the employment of this method in metallography are also described below.
