This article presents the operating principles of the Baltic–Adriatic Transport Corridors – a supranational structure functioning on the background of European countries and on the Polish Baltic Sea coast in particular. It deals with both the issue of transport policy within the framework of this corridor and implemented logistics solutions accompanying changes in goods flow, since the importance of transport corridor is determined not only by infrastructure with adequately high technical parameters, but also by the type of flows which are accomplished via this corridor. And these, in the case of the Baltic–Adriatic transport corridor, are going to increase dynamically in the foreseeable future

Artykuł przedstawia problematykę transeuropejskich sieci transportowych i roli, jaką odgrywa w niej śródlądowy transport wodny. Wisła stanowi komplementarną oś transportową na mapie polskiego odcinka korytarza transportowego Bałtyk-Adriatyk, co stanowi impuls do prowadzenia działań zmierzających w przyszłości do jej transportowego wykorzystania. Autorzy artykułu postarają się odpowiedzieć na pytanie dotyczące warunków, jakie muszą być spełnione, by Wisła mogła w tym szlaku odegrać równoważną rolą co sieci drogowe i kolejowe.

The article presents the issue of trans-European transport networks and the role played by the inland water transport. Vistula constitutes a complementary transport axis on the map of the Polish section of the Baltic-Adriatic Sea transport corridor, what constitutes an impulse for taking actions aiming at its future use for transport purposes. The authors try to answer the question concerning conditions that have to be fulfilled in order for the Vistula to play a role equivalent to reads and railways.
