The paper contains data collection of more than 100 sea accidents that have happened at the Baltic Sea area for last three decades. These accidents are classified according to kind and range of the casualty. Moreover, the location and weather parameters during the sea accidents are given.

In the article there are described shipping density, condition and ship accidents at the Baltic Sea waters. Shipping is gathered in the network of critical infrastructure. Impact of changing climate/weather on that infrastructure is taken into account. The maritime ferry – a passenger Ro-Ro ship operating at the Baltic Sea between Gdynia and Karlskrona ports on regular everyday line is described. Next, the climate-weather impact on the technical system operation and safety of maritime ferry is considered.

The shipping as a critical infrastructure is presented in the paper. The selected basic notions concerned with shipping critical infrastructure as well as extreme weather events and climate change impacts on its safety and resilience are given. Next, these notions and terminology specific for Baltic Shipping Critical Infrastructure Network (BSCIN) are indicated and described in the paper.
